A pharaoh was worshiped as a god. He controlled all the land and the people.

A pharaoh.

to hold a royal tomb.

In the desert of course. The town was known as a pyramid city.

Pyramids were only built during the time of the OLD KINGDOM.

How were the pyramids made?
All of the pyramids were built by hand. Blocks of stone were brought by boat.
Why did they stop building pyramids?
Each pyramid had a city of workers to keep a watchful eye on it. Grave robbers still stole and destroyed royal tombs! Punishment for robbery was death, but tombs were still being robbed. Since the royal tombs were easy to find, pharaohs started to be buried in hidden locations.
