The year 2011 marks an important landmark in the illustrious history of AIESEC
in India with 30 years of impact in the country. AIESEC has continuously aligned
itself to the changing needs to the society, bridging cultural gaps, bringing people
of the world together, literally, but most importantly it has created and shaped
future leaders each day. AIESEC is the worlds largest international youth
organization present in over 110 countries across the globe providing young people
with an international platform to explore and develop their leadership potential.
AIESEC in Bangalore is one of the oldest and most pioneering Local Committees
in the Network. With a rich history of creating leaders who have gone on to
achieve great impact in the local and international levels both internally and
externally as well as being a Local Committee with a strong engaged membership,
we havecontinued to grow from stride to stride.
‘If not now when, now not me who’. This is a quote that is the driving force
behind the team as we look to embrace the dynamic environment and evolve as a
Local Committee to deliver our Vision of ‘Providing quality experiences to all our
stakeholders.’
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
National Awards won at NLS:

Best Transition Awards
The Annual General Meeting(AGM) is where the
local committee is held accountable for their
performance .In the meeting the outgoing Executive
body is discharged by the members and the
incoming Executive Body is ratified according to its
performance This year the Annual General Meeting
was held on the 2nd of February where the mantle
of leadership was passed on to the New Executive
Body led by The Local Committee President. It is
a day where emotions and pride of being a part of
AIESEC Bangalore is at their peak. In this Annual
General Meeting the outgoing Executive Body, led by
Ankit Chowdhary, were discharged by vote from
their responsibilities and the new executive body
was ratified. The incoming Executive Body present
ed their early plans and the budget for AIESEC in
Bangalore. It was an epic moment as both The
Executive Bodies were present together, paving the
future of AIESEC. Emotions soared high when it was
time for the outgoing Executive Body (The Jedi
Council) to submit their resignation letters to the
Local Committee President. The Annual General
Meeting will surely be a day that each member in
this Local Chapter will cherish for a long time to
come.
RECRUITMENT INDUCTION AND LOCAL CONGRESS
Recruitment is an event in which AIESEC Bangalore goes
out to many colleges to promote various activities and
recruit potential members .The recruitment process
consists of a member being selected after successfully
clearing the group discussion and personal interview.
AIESEC in Bangalore towed about 450 forms from 7
different colleges. After a month of the tedious
recruitment process, the new General Body of AIESEC
Bangalore was finally ready to be inducted!
A meeting was held to brief the parents of the new
recruits. The Vice President of each department gave a
brief introduction to their departments and the various
projects that they undertook. The Induction ceremony
for the parents was a success!
And then there was the Local congress weekend held
Green Valley Resort.
The whole weekend was charged with some incredible
amounts of energy from everyone. The new recruits slowly
understood the working of the organization. There were
many presentations about each department. The new
recruits had activities related to leadership, world issues
and other AIESEC actions. We learnt a major chunk about
each department. The only things left to learn would come
with experience and time.

AIESEC EXPERIENCES
After having had the opportunity to work and meet with people from all around the world (through my roles at
AIESEC), a natural progression to my current experiences led me to want to head to the future and
experience diversity first hand.
This curiosity coupled with the need to develop a holistic perspective to Human Resources led me to apply to
the ABN AMRO Bank headquartered in Amsterdam, as a Global Coordinator. I chose the bank based on the
role and the fact that it provided me an opportunity to take forward my AIESEC experience and blend it with
the current organization strategy. Little did I realize, that it was pretty much, one of the best choices I had
made till then.
Working and living in Amsterdam for about 16 months, was just awesome. My first team (for the first 6
months of my internship) was the Leadership development team. The team had a beautiful blend of
exceptional people from the industry (non-AIESEC), and a some exceptional leaders from AIESEC. Not only
did I learn through my job role but I had the opportunity to learn from my team and from their roles - which
is something I'd treasure forever. From a cultural perspective working in the Netherlands gave me a reality
check! Their ability to balance work and their personal life was amazing and it made me realize that this is an
aspect I'd like to work on in a personal and in a professional capacity.
The fun of living in another country, exploring a new culture by yourself, meeting new people, understanding
your boundaries and discovering yourself - I believe cannot be traded with any other
experience at the an age of 22.
The role at ABN led me to experience change management and transition as the bank was in the process of a
historical merger process. It enabled me spend 6 months working within a completely new area - private
banking and sustainability, and most importantly it led me to discover what I am passionate about – people and
organizations. Coming back to India and experiencing working with a leading
technology company in an emerging market was important. This led to my working with Infosys and my role at
Infosys led me to explore academia as I had the opportunity to manage the relationship between Infosys and
leading academic institutions from around the world. The responsibility of building these relationships,
travelling on your own, representing Infosys and India at about 14 institutions while managing 16 others
(virtually) was just fabulous. I cannot stress on how much AIESEC and ABN prepared me for it!
Today, I head out into the future again, but this time as a student. As I wrote my application to university I
realized so much of who I am and what I've learnt has come from the choices I made - which were to
experience leadership and diversity. My experiences furthered my belief in work hard, the need to take risks,
learn from my mistakes, experience the world and take responsibility.
As I close I'd urge you to step out of your comfort zone and experience the world outside. It's an expeirence
you'll remember very fondly for the rest of your life but as you plan your next steps -
try to define what you'd like to take away from your heading to the future stage and most importantly have
fun!
