Bullying, discrimination, harassment and victimisation will not be tolerated. Where a worker/subcontractor is found to be bullying, harassing or victimising others, they will be immediately removed from the site.
6.4 CONFINED SPACES
A confined space is an enclosed or partially enclosed space that:
• Is not designed or intended primarily to be occupied by a person • Is, or is designed or intended to be, at normal atmospheric pressure while any person is in the space • Is or is likely to be a risk to health and safety from:
- An atmosphere that does not have a safe oxygen level - Contaminants, including airborne gases, vapours and dusts, that may cause injury from fire or
explosion - Harmful concentrations of any airborne contaminants - Engulfment
Confined spaces pose dangers because they are usually not designed to be areas where people work. Confined spaces often have poor ventilation, which allows hazardous atmospheres to quickly develop, especially if the space is small. The hazards aren’t always obvious and they can change over time.
Working in a confined space has the potential to increase the risk of injury from noise, being overcome by fumes, gases or oxygen depletion, high or low temperatures, manual handling and slips, trips and falls.
Confined space control measures must be outlined in the subcontractor’s SWMS, where necessary.

with underground services • Pot-hole dug (by hand) to expose existing services before any mechanical excavation near the
services • Inspect the excavation/trench daily for signs of instability
6.6 FALLING OBJECTS
Where practical, any work is to be undertaken on the ground or on a solid construction (e.g. EWP and/or scaffold).
Where this is not practical, measures will be taken by the subcontractors to prevent falling objects.

6.8 FITNESS FOR WORK
All subcontractors must ensure they are Fit for Work for the duties and tasks they are required to perform.
Subcontractors must notify Adelaide Insurance Builders, prior to the commencement of their next work shift, if their fitness for work is affected in any way. Notification must be given in a timely manner to allow alternative arrangements to be made where necessary.
A subcontractor who comes to work in an unfit state will be in breach of site procedures and may be subject to disciplinary actions or removed from site, depending upon the degree of awareness and the severity of the risk to the safety of others.

• Blades • Knives • Grinding discs • Saws • Syringes
If a syringe and/or needle is found on the work site, subcontractors are to report to Adelaide Insurance Builders Management immediately.

3. At any time/s, AIB may offer work to a contractor, which offer may be oral or written. An offer would detail:
3.1. the kind, location and time for delivery of the services it requires;
3.2. any unusual circumstances pertaining to those services known to AIB;
3.3. the service charge payable by AIB for those services (before GST) (likely the subject of a quote first obtained from that contractor);
3.4. if at that time AIB has issued or then issues other offers to the contractor yet to complete, any priority of one over the other.
4. A contractor accepts an offer either by so informing AIB, or by starting the work offered. A contractor may decline any offer.

6. A contractor must raise with AIB any queries concerning an offer or the services it requires before starting the work. If, during the work, anything becomes known to the contractor that would impact adversely the delivery of the work, or that the contractor believes should see the service charge revised, the contractor must inform AIB for a consensus on the way forward.
7. A contractor must provide their own tools / test equipment / safety equipment.
8. A contractor is free to subcontract any of the work, but remains liable to AIB for proper delivery of that work.
9. Upon completion of work, the contractor must submit to AIB:
9.1. confirmation the work is complete; and
9.2. an invoice (tax invoice if the contractor claims for GST) – payable by AIB within 14 days.
10. If a contractor is an individual (or partnership of individuals), the individual does not become an employee of AIB for any purpose – including any remuneration / leave entitlements to which an employee would be entitled, worker’s compensation, PAYG withholding for income tax, superannuation guarantee, payroll tax. AIB recommends that such individual maintain income protection insurance, and ensure their income tax is paid. The individual should inform AIB if their work for AIB is likely to exceed 50% of the individual’s financial year turnover.
