I. The Short Title of this Act shall be "The Foxton HarbourBoard Act, 1876;" and it shall come into operation on the firstday of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven. '.

."Oounty" rrl.(:~ans the Oounty of Manawatu." Gazette" means the New Zealand Gazette."Gazetted" means inserted in the Gazette.

CONSTITUTION OF :BOARD-ELECTIONS.

.. 8. There IS her<~by constituted for.the port aBoard to consist ofthe following persons :-'. ..'

(1.) Three persons to be from tiIl1eto time appointed by theGovernor, and whose names shall be inserted in the Gazette.

(2.) The Ohah;man or _Mayor, asthe case may be, for the timebeing of the governing' body.

(3.) .The Ohairman of the .Council of th~ Oounty.(4.) Two members to be elected'by the governing body.

4. On the second Monday in .the month of January, one thousandeight hundred. and. seventy-seven,' and On the second l\fonday in suchmpnthin .• every second'year thereafter, the governing body shall elect.two members to be members of the. Board, who shall hold .office for

(two years, or until the election or appointment -of.their successors,but shall be eligible for re-election. '

They shall also hold ordinary meeti:q.gs. for the transaction·,ofgeneral business, and the ordinary meetings shall beheld at the officeof the Board" at such stated time as the BoardshaU from time to timeappoint.

INCORPORATION OF BOARD.

The Board shall be a, corporate body bylthe name of "The IncorporationofFoxton Harbour Board," with perp~tualsuccession and a coIllmon,seal, Board. ,and with full power and authority by that name to sue and be sued inall Courts whatsoever, and shall be capable in law, for thepurposesandsubject to ,this Act, to do and suffer all such acts and things as bodiescorporate may do al1d suffer, with power to take and hold all suchlands tenements or hereditaments as maybe in any manner vested inthe Board.,
