Keynote Speaker: Bob Blair, William Henry Jackson:Photographer, Freehand Artist, and Anthropologist.Bob Blair of Taos, New Mexico, is the editor ofWilliam HenryJacksons The Pioneer Photographer, based on two decades ofresearch related to the well-known early western photographer.
He currently is doing curatorial work on the William HenryJackson Collection at Scotts Bluff National Monument.His passion for Jacksons photography and art took root whileBob was working as an interpretative river guide at JacksonHole, Wyoming, in the 1960s. This talk, based on Jacksonsdiary notes, autobiographies, letters, and publications of theU.S. Geological Survey, provides a gripping tale of southwesternexploration as seen through the eyes of one of the Wests
preeminent photographers.
