AGO – intelligent energy concepts

Be it environment or industry: energy is the driver of all processes.

We make energy available for our customers. What your production

process demands is the yardstick you can measure us by. Be it a

survey, consultation on energy-saving measures, managing emis-

sions, or the conception, construction and operation of plants: we

are there for you. Increasingly, companies are focusing on their core

competences, and the supply of energy is often not among them.

We are happy to advise you in this regard and find the right way to

reduce your process costs together with you.

Highlights

Page 6: Ago brochure

AGO also offers interesting technolo-

gies for industrial energy supply in mar-

kets outside of Germany. Depending on

the country or region, potential is identified

and market exploitation in a structured manner.

Be it through our local branches or with qualified staff

from our headquarters, we carry out projects in the fields of

trigeneration, biomass cogeneration plants and plant engineering all

over the world.

A healthy world is no coincidence - it depends on all of us. AGO AG does

not only set itself climate protection and resource conservation

targets when generating energy, but also when it comes to

its use. Every aspect of our business activity is based

on acting ethically and responsibly. Consequently,

AGO rejects child and forced labour, corruption,

and any violation of human rights and is

committed to promoting and increasing

the use of environmentally-friendly

technologies.

From small plants to industrial large scale plants – with us, your project is in good hands. In the

area of refrigeration plant construction, the dominant fi elds of activity over the past years have

been: split units, screw-type water chillers, turbo water chillers and absorption chillers in com-

plex interconnections with diverse heat generators.

On the basis of a co-operation with ILK Dresden, AGO AG exclusively offers of a highly interesting

product in the area of absorption for cold generation below 0°C. AGO Congelo: the ammonia/

water absorption chiller for temperatures below 0°C.

Business activities

Why cold out of heat?Ecological aspects:

•Less energy consumption as opposed to the conventional separate generation

•Reduction of CO2 emissions

•Reduction of noxious emissions

•It’s possible to use waste heat fl ows for the generation of thermal energy for miscellaneous

cold demands

•Substitution of premium electrical energy by “inferior” thermal energy in the form of waste heat

Economical aspects:

•Reduction of the life cycle costs due to lower operational costs:

– Lower consumption of premium electrical energy

– Lower maintenance and repair costs

– Long life cycle due to less moving components

– Lower electrical power input

– Reliability, superior availability

Page 14: Ago brochure

Combined heat and power plants (CHPs) simultaneously generate electricity and heat on

the basis of cogeneration. Due to a higher efficiency compared to the separate generation

of electricity (e.g. coal-fired power plant) and heat (e.g. boiler with fuel oil or natural gas)

these types of plants contribute to a reduction of the clients‘ energy costs. At the same time,

cogeneration plants reduce climate-relevant emissions and preserve our energy resources.

To AGO AG, cogeneration plants are part of their core competences. With more than 200

cogeneration plants of different performance classes installed, we gained considerable

experience over the past years. We are perfectly familiar with all common fuels - natural gas,

fuel oil, sewage gas, biogas and wood chips.

•Reliable energy supply - if the public power network breaks down,

it is still possible to generate electricity (isolated operation)

•Possibility to combine with refrigeration plants (trigeneration)

•Possibility to be exempt from natural gas tax and petroleum tax

•Cogeneration bonus granted for electricity fed into the public grid

and self-used electricity

•There is no electricity tax for electricity from cogeneration plants

•Due to sophisticated technology long maturities are possible

•Reduction of energy costs

•Preservation of primary energy by up to 36%

•Reduction of NOX by up to 29% and CO₂ by up to 58%

Power spectrum

In case of purchase, AGO is responsible for design, installation and commissioning of the plant.

However, it is also possible to use the innovative technology by means of a contracting model.

In such case, AGO erects and operates the cogeneration plant on its own and at its own expense.

Customers´ benefi t with contracting•The customers can focus on their core competence and don’t need personnel for the

cogeneration plant

•Supply of heat, cold and electricity at fi xed terms

•No maintenance and repair costs to be borne by the customer

•No investment for the customer

•No risk in case of damage to the plant

Page 16: Ago brochure

Based on our core competences in the field of cogeneration and refrigeration we gained

significant experience in the field of trigeneration as well.

The trigeneration plants are customized for your individual needs of steam, heat, electricity

and cold and can be designed for all common types of fuel, such as natural gas, biogas,

fuel oil and biomass.

Heat Pumps

•Free heat source

•Very low energy costs

•Environmentally friendly

•No open fire on site, therefore no CO2 emissions

•Mature, proven and reliable technology

•Space saving, since no fuel storage is required

•No chimney required, no costs for chimney sweep

•Independent from fluctuating oil prices

•Basically maintenance free

•Flexible system with possible solutions for each area

Advantages of heat pumps

•Earth

•Water

•Air

Heat sources

Heat pumps move (pump) heat from its surrounding to a higher usable temperature level.

Heat pumps draw heat from the air, ground, sewage or groundwater. The electrical energy,

which can be extracted from the heat sink (air, ground), is a multiple of the electricity input

for the heat pump and can be pumped to a higher temperature level. Electrical energy is

fed to the heat pump for the compressor and for the heat drawn by the surroundings. At the

heat pump‘s outlet a part of the energy input is available as heat on a higher temperature

level.

Solar Process Heat

Industrial process heat accounts for a major portion of energy consumption in the industrial world.

Much of this heat can be harvested from the sun.

AGO provides systems based on Mirroxx Fresnel collectors, delivering a reliable supply of energy

at high temperatures. Our systems are perfectly suitable within the range of 100 to 200 °C

and designed for temperatures up to 400°C for cooling power generation and many other

applications.

Energy Efficiency Consulting

We have been working as an active partner of DENA (Deutsche Energie-Agentur, Berlin) in

the DENA project “Energy efficiency in industry and trade” since 2005. We provide consulting

services for the industry and service providers and are lecturing in trade associations and

specific committees. The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of AGO AG, Helmut Peetz, is also a

member of the advisory board of the Energy Agency of the Upper Franconia district.

Energy efficiency consulting will only be successful under consideration of the specific pro-

duction processes and location-specific conditions. That is why AGO AG is always looking at

energy efficiency from a holistic perspective.
