UDCT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
N.M. PAREKH MARG, MATUNGA, MUMBAI 400 019
Minutes of the 24th Annual General Meeting of UDCT Alumni Association held on
Friday, the 14th September, 2012 at 5.30 p.m. in the K. V. Auditorium, ICT, Matunga,
Mumbai 400 019.
24 (Twenty four) members were present.
1. Prof. A. B. Pandit, President, was in the Chair.
2. The meeting commenced at 6.00 p.m.
3. The President called the meeting to order and welcomed all the members to the 24th
Annual General Meeting.
4. To confirm the Minutes of the 23rd Annual General Meeting held on 24-8-2011.
The President invited suggestions and comments from the members on the Minutes of
the 23rd Annual General Meeting which had already been circulated. Since there
were no comments from the members the Minutes of the 23rd Annual General
Meeting held on 24th August 2011, were confirmed.
5. To receive and adopt the Annual Report for the year 2011-2012.
The Annual Report was received and adopted unanimously.
“RESOLVED THAT THE ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2011-2012
OF UDCT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION BE AND IS HEREBY ADOPTED
UNANIMOUSLY”.

Seconded by : Dr. Uday Lajmi
6. To receive and adopt the audited Statement of Accounts and Balance Sheet for the
year ended 31-03-2012.
The Audited Statement of Accounts submitted by the Board of Governors for the year
2011-2012 was received. There were a few comments and queries and hence the
Accounts Statement was received and adopted unanimously after making some minor
changes/clarifications.
“RESOLVED THAT THE AUDITED STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS AND
BALANCE SHEET OF UDCT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FOR THE YEAR ENDED
31-3-2012 BE AND IS ADOPTED HEREBY UNANIMOUSLY AFTER MAKING
CHANGES”

Seconded by : Mr. Ravi Raghavan
7. To appoint auditors for the year 20012-2013 and fix their remunerations :
The Hon. Treasurer informed the members that M/s K. S. Jhaveri & Co. have been
appointed as auditors for the year 2012-2013 or until the next AGM on a revised
remuneration of Rs.12,000/- plus taxes per annum. The Vice Chancellor informed
the members that the auditors have to be changed after every five years as per law.
The members took a note of this and agreed to change the auditors after five years.
“RESOLVED THAT M/S. K. S. JHAVERI & CO., CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS BE AND ARE HEREBY APPOINTED AS AUDITORS FOR THE YEAR 2012-
2013 OR TILL THE NEXT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AT A
REMUNERATION OF RS.12,000/- PLUS TAXES”

8. The Hon. Secretary, Dr. S. T. Mhaske, produced the report.
UAA Membership :
The Hon. Secretary informed the members that the UAA membership had crossed a
bench mark of 5000 and thanked the Vice Chancellor, ICT, Prof. G. D. Yadav, ICT
Faculty, Dr. A. B. Pandit, President, UAA and the UAA BOGs for their efforts.
Donation to ICT and its Students :
The Hon. Secretary said that in the last financial year we have supported our Alma
Mater and its students to the tune of Rs. 6,73,647/- as listed in the Annual Report.
UAA Bulletin:
The Hon. Secretary informed the members that UAA has brought out one issue of
UAA bulletin in the last financial year with the efforts of Mr. Ravi Raghavan, Editor,
UAA Bulletin and invited Mr. Raghavan to present his report. Mr.Ravi Raghavan
presented his report and the proposed plan of action for the coming year.
UAA Website
He said that a full fledged UAA website is finally ready for launch and requested Dr.
Lajmi, Convenor of the Website Committee to give us a brief report on the same. Dr.
Lajmi explained the proposed features of the website and course of implementation of
the same.
UAA Chapters :
The Hon. Secretary said that Vice Chancellor, Professor G. D. Yadav, Professor. A.
B. Pandit and the UAA Chapter Committee headed by Mr. L. R. Chadha have done
their best to revive the Chapters. A detailed report on the UAA Chapters was
presented by Mr. L. R. Chadha, Convenor, U.A.A. Chapters’ Committee.
Attendance of the Board of Governors :
13 meetings were held in the last financial year and many important decisions were
taken. Though some of the members were not physically present at the meetings, they
have communicated through e-mails and given valuable inputs. The BOGs have also
held meetings through conference calls.
ICT Foundation Day Celebrations:
The ICT Foundation Day celebrations were held on 1st October, 2011 jointly by ICT
and UAA. The Chief Guest Dr. Vijay Kelkar, Former Chairman, Finance
Commission, Government of India delivered the Colour Publication ICT Foundation
Day Lecture. The Alkyl Amines – ICT Young Scientist Medal was awarded to Dr.
Sanyog Jain, Associate Professor, Centre for Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology, Dept.
of Pharmaceutics, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research.
On this auspicious day the UAA Distinguished Alumnus Awards were presented to
Dr. Vivek V. Ranade and Shri Bharat I. Bhatt for Academic Excellence, Shri
Anand K. Apte and Dr. Ajit V. Sapre for Professional Excellence and Dr. Vinay C.
Vora and Shri Shrikant R. Paranjape for Science and Technology.
TECHNOLOGY DAY
The Technology Day and International Year of Chemistry Celebration was held on 11th
and 12th
May, 2011 jointly by ICT and UAA. The UAA Distinguished Alumnus Award
in the Entrepreneurial Excellence category were presented to Shri Madhukar A. Naik,
Dr. Ashok B. Amin, Dr. K. M. Shah, Dr. Naresh M. Saraf, Shri Lalchand N.
Gandhi and Dr.(Mrs.) Deepa Bhjekar. The function was well attended and went off
very well.
UAA DHIRUBHAI AMBANI LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
On 11th May, 2011, during the Technology Day celebrations the prestigious UAA
Dhirubhai Ambani Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon Padma
Vibhushan Professor C. N. R. Rao.
UAA Annual Day Celebrations :
The Annual get-together of UDCT Alumni Association was organized on 24th
December, 2012 at ICT. It was a gala evening followed by dinner. The Rajat
Medallion Award was awarded to Mr. Vijay Ratnaparkhe of 1986 batch.
Awards& Accolades
As per the tradition UAA has instituted prizes for the Best and Second Best students.
Prize for the Best student from the Penultimate Year 2011-2012 was awarded to
Ms. Fatema, from the Pharmacy Department and the Second Best Prize to Mr. Joshi
Ravi Kiran from the Chemical Engineering Department.
ICT Annual Day – 3rd March, 2012 :
The ICT Annual Day was held on 3rd March, 2012. Prof. Samir Brahmachari,
Director General, CSIR, was the Chief Guest and UAA Distinguished Orator.
ICT First Convocation Function – 6th March, 2012
The first Convocation Ceremony of ICT as a deemed University, was held on 6th
March, 2012. The event was graced by Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Prithviraj
Chavan and Honourable Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Government of
Maharashtra, Shri Rajesh Tope. The function was held on a very grand scale.
12. UAA Placement Cell :
The ICT Training and Placement Cell which was launched in February 2010 has
progressed very well. A three day event called `Job Mela’was organized on the 11th,
12th and 13
th of May, 2011. About 20 companies participated in the event and recruited
fresh graduates and post- Graduates.
REPORTS OF THE UAA SUB COMMITTEES
The President requested the Convenors of each committee to present the report on the
work done by their committee and their future plans :
Publication Committee :
Mr. Ravi Raghavan, Convenor, Publications Committee, informed the members that he
could not come out with more bulletins as there was not much content. He invited the
members to give their feed back and information on `ICT Then and ICT Now’. Mr.
Mokashi suggested that the awardees should be requested to write an article each and the
UAA Chapters should be asked to contribute at least two pages each. The President
informed the members that ICT has appointed a Technical Secretary to keep a record of
all the happenings in ICT and said that some of the contents can be published in the
bulletin.
The members were informed that the ICT Coffee Table Book is also ready for printing
and will be released on ICT Foundation Day i.e. on 1st October, 2011.
UAA Chapters’ Committee :
Mr. L. R. Chadha, Convenor, UAA Chapters Committee, presented his report. He
informed the members that Ahmedabad Chapter had a very good get-together followed by
lunch. He informed the members that all efforts are being made to start a new chapter at
Kolhapur. He said that Prof. Yadav has been visiting Kolhapur frequently. Prof. Yadav
informed the members that eithr on the 24th or 25
th of September a meeting is being
arranged at Kolhapur during which he agreed to inaugurate the Kolhapur Chapter. He
informed the members that at `Atul’ itself there are 40 ICTians which can form a chapter.
He suggested that since Satabdi does not go to Ankleshwar on Sundays a meeting should
be arranged on Wednesday 2nd
October which is a bank holiday at UAA Ankleshwar
Chapter….control of global warming. He said that efforts were made to revive UAA
Bangalore Chapter. Mr. S. K. Srinivasan has taken over as the President of Bangalore
Chapter and has formed a Chapter Committee. He said that efforts were made to start a
new UAA Chapter at Kolhapur. Regarding UAA Delhi Chapter, he said that efforts
have been made by Professor G. D. Yadav, Director, ICT, to revive the Delhi Chapter
during his frequent visits to Delhi. He informed the members that UAA Pune Chapter
had organized a lecture by Prof. J. B. Joshi on Research Opportunities in Engineering and
Techonology in India at Pune on 12th April 2010. He said that efforts are on to open a
new Chapter at Singapore. He thanked Professor G. D. Yadav, Vice Chancellor, ICT
and Mr. S. P. Deshmukh who put in lot of efforts to revive the Bangkok Chapter. They
visited Bangkok Chapter personally and held meetings with Mr. Rajendra M. Jain who
has taken over as Chairman of UAA Thailand Chapter.
Mr. Mokashi suggested that a senior office bearer should interact with the UAA Chapters.
UAA Website Committee :
Dr. U. R. Lajmi, Convenor, UAA Website Committee, said that finally it was a dream
come true since the construction of the website was partly ready. He demonstrated
specific web pages. He said that he has a dream to create an ICT Museum on the
website. He said that the website will cover online registration, search for student
though he or she is not a UAA member, career net working, expressing job options,
career enhancement courses, fund raising activities, facility to read lectures from
abroad, Industry venturing, mentoring opportunities, teaching opportunities, etc. He said
that provision will be made for events and news – student news, faculty news, branding
articles with ICT and publications will be made available for downloads,. The President
informed the members that a functional website will be launched on ICT Foundation
Day to be held on 1st October 2011. The President pointed out that once we have a
constructive website there would be interactions with the chapters . Prof. Gaikar
suggested that keeping connectivity with the members is very important.
ACCOUNTS AND FINANCES OF UAA :
There was a query from Mr. V. D. Sanghavi as to why certain items are shown as
liability in the accounts statement. The Hon. Treasurer, Mr. V. Y. Sane informed the
members that the Accounts Statements have been prepared as per the format given by
the Charity Commissioner and it is presented to the members in the existing format to
give a comparison of last year and this year’s expenses.
ATTENDANCE OF THE BOGs :
Dr. Habbu pointed out that the attendance score for the last term of the Board of
Governors was not so go and requested the new Board of Governors to put in a better
attendance. ANY OTHER MATTER :
OBITUARY :
Two minutes silence was observed for Mr. Subhash Bhere, UAA staff who
untimely expired on 15th April, 2012 .
As there was no other business for transaction the meeting concluded with a vote of
thanks to the Chair.
