Getting to Turku

• In Turku and the Southwest-Finland region it's easy for the traveller to get around in his or her own vehicle, as well as on public transportation. Cities and towns have an efficient public transportation system, and longer distances can be covered in the comfort of long-distance buses and trains. In addition, there is an international airport and passenger ferry harbour in Turku.

Training facilities for teams

• There are two big training centers near, about 10 km from city center

• Both can be rented for teams from Friday 13th to Tuesday 18th September

• Details will be send to team leaders

• We are open to all proposals for co-operation

Getting around

• We have a deal with Sixt, propriate vehicles to the teams will be available for rent. We will send the link for reservations for team leaders

• We will also reserve one parking slot for each team close to entrance

• There will be a shuttle bus (Line 100) between Gatorade Center and City Center. With competitor pass free of charge

Gatorade Center

• Gatorade Center is a modern and comfortable multipurpose arena that can easily be changed from an ice hockey arena to a concert venue, and vice versa, overnight. The arena’s total capacity is nearly 12.000 with ~ 4,400 seats in the lower stand, ~ 3,900 in the upper stand, plus 780 box seats.

City of Turku

• The Castle and Cathedral are the two poles of historic Turku, between which just about every important site in the city can be found.

– The City of Turku came into existence at Koroinen, a few kilometres from the Turku market square. Trading took place on this historic site as early as in the 1150's, and in 1229, the bishopric was transferred there as well. The year 1229 is also regarded as the year in which the City of Turku was founded.

• It all began on the Aura river

– Do you know how to recognise a European city dating from the Middle Ages? A riverfront, market square, castle and cathedral, just to name a few. Sounds familiar – in fact, it sounds just like Turku. Turku is not only the one city in Finland that meets the above description, it is also a destination filled with events and things to do, not to mention the European Capital of Culture for 2011.
