Address Your Immediate Needs with Built-In Capabilities

The express CXA and express EXA are pre-configured with the key features most commonly included in a build-to-order instrument. This ensures that you’re getting a great tool that provides the functionality you need today—and each one is easily upgradable if you want to add features tomorrow. The table summarizes the capabilities included in the express CXA and express EXA compared to a build-to-order instrument.

    Express model Included capability

    Express CXA andExpress EXA

Preamplifi er: Improves the instrument noise fl oor and is especially useful when measuring low-level signals or low-power devices, or when looking for interfering or intermittent signals.

Electronic attenuator: The more durable alternative to mechanical attenuators, electronic attenuators are preferred by users who need to frequently cycle attenuation settings for different measurements, such as optimizing for dynamic range. Express EXA offers a combination of 24 dB of electronic attenuation plus 60 dB of mechanical attenuation. Express CXA offers 50 dB of electronic attenuation.

Express CXATracking generator: The available built-in source enables scalar network measurements with the CXA, and it saves space. The RF output signal tracks along with the tuning of the signal analyzer.

The express CXA is today’s leading low-cost tool for essential signal characterization. It’s also an excellent teaching tool for RF technology and signal analysis—and helps you build a foundation for cost-effective testing.

Enhance Your Signal Analyzer with Optional Features

In addition to the pre-configured features, you can tailor your solution with up to three optional capabilities on an express CXA or express EXA signal analyzer. Two of the options enhance measurement accuracy: a precision frequency reference and a fine-resolution step attenuator. The third option adds measurement functionality for basic electromag-netic compatibility (EMC) measurements.

    • Enhances measurement accuracy by reducing frequency drift and provides temperature stability

    • Recommended to accurately char-acterize the frequency accuracy and behavior of local oscillators in RF and microwave products or systems

    • Provides highly accurate absolute frequency measurements in addition to the accurate relative frequency measurements

    • Enables fine-resolution attenuator steps across the full range of the attenuator and across the full frequency range of the signal analyzer

    • Fine step size provides greater precision in amplitude measure-ments when compared to the standard steps

    • Allows the user to optimize dynamic range, and therefore use wider RBW, allowing faster sweeps for applications such as low-level spur search

    • Adds pre-compliance measure-ments of electromagnetic interfer-ence (EMI) and supports CISPR 16-1-1 and MIL-STD detectors, bandwidths and band presets

    • Tune-and-listen feature can be used to discriminate between ambient environmental signals and signals from the DUT

    • Measure-at-marker feature enables measurements that use up to three of the built-in detectors and offers limit-line and amplitude-correction capabilities

The express EXA is the fast, fl exible way to cover diverse needs with a single tool. It provides a solid mix of speed and performance.

    More Information

    Defi nitions and conditions

Specification describe the perfor-mance of parameters covered by the product warranty and apply to the full temperature of 0 to 55 °C, unless otherwise noted.

95th percentile values indicate the breadth of the population (approx. 2 σ) of performance tolerances expected to be met in 95 percent of the cases with a 95 percent confi-dence, for any ambient temperature in the range of 20 to 30 °C. In addi-tion to the statistical observations of a sample of instruments, these values include the effects of the uncertainties of external calibra-tion references. These values are not warranted. These values are updated occasionally if a significant change in the statistically observed behavior of production instruments is observed.

Typical describes additional product performance information that is not covered by the product warranty. It is performance beyond specifica-tions that 80 percent of the units exhibit with a 95 percent confidence level over the temperature range 20 to 30 °C. Typical performance does not include measurement uncertainty.

Nominal values indicate expected performance, or describe product performance that is useful in the application of the product, but are not covered by the product warranty.

    Arrive ahead

We can’t predict the future, but Agilent can help you shape it with future-ready test assets. The Agilent X-Series is an evolutionary approach to signal analysis that spans instrumentation, measurements and software. This approach gives you the flexibility to satisfy your business and technical requirements across multiple products and pro-grams – now and in the future. The X-Series also creates a consistent framework that enables your teams to move at a faster pace. Stay ready, stay in sync and arrive ahead—with the Agilent X-Series.

Future-ready instruments so you can evolve as technology changesMore than upgradeability of features and functions, you can extend the longevity of your test assets with upgradeable processor, memory, connectivity and more.

Consistent measurement framework for signal analysis to enable teams to move at a faster paceBuilt on a proven foundation for sig-nal analysis, the operation of each X-Series analyzer is the same, from the user interface, to programming codes, to test results. You’ll achieve measurement integrity across your organization and improve productivity.

Broadest set of applications and software to address all your test needsWith a library of over 25 measure-ment applications, the ability to run software inside the X-Series open Windows® operating system, and a first-to-market track record in emerging technologies, you’ll have the flexibility to address each and every project.

The analyzer will meet its specifi-cations when:

    • It is within its calibration cycle• Under auto couple control,

except when Auto SweepTime Rules = Accy

    • Signal frequencies < 10 MHz, with DC coupling applied

    • The analyzer has been stored at an ambient temperature within the allowed operating range for at least two hours before being turned on, if it had previously been stored at a temperature range inside the allowed storage range, but outside the allowed operating range

    • The analyzer has been turned on at least 30 minutes with Auto Align set to normal, or, if Auto Align is set to off or partial, alignments must have been run recently enough to prevent an Alert message; if the Alert condition is changed from Time and Temperature to one of the disabled duration choices, the analyzer may fail to meet specifications without informing the user.
