Objectives (I/II)

BOSS Meeting - 27/5/2014

• As part of the CERN Maintenance Management (CMM) Programme BI has identified the following as important items for implementation:– Updated Inventory– Spares Management– Intervention Tracking– Maintenance Procedures

• Today devoted to first 2 items– Concentrate on BEAMLINE components

• Parts that require a vacuum intervention to repair or replace– Electronics & Software not in scope of this meeting

• Initial focus on the LHC proton injector chain– Consolidation budget foreseen from 2014 onwards– LEIR, AD, ISOLDE will be treated at a later date

Objectives (II/II)

BOSS Meeting - 27/5/2014

• Overall Aim– Have a full inventory of all BI Beamline equipment– Have a full inventory of spare components for this equipment– Create a prioritised list of additional spares that need to be manufactured and

assembled over the next few years• Balance criticality for operation with probability of failure (risk analysis)

• Today’s Aim– Identify the critical instruments for beam operation

• Many used only for commissioning• Meeting before LS1 to give OP & BI food for thought during the re-start

– Present our current understanding of the BI beamline equipment and spares inventory

• Driven by the BI mechanics section– For the moment largely concentrates on equipment they directly maintain
