AGAR’s programs are made possible in part by grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation and the Piepho Charitable Fund. AGAR CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES TICKET INFORMATION ADULTS/SENIORS: Series of seven chamber music concerts: Season Tickets = $90 for 7 performance Half-Season Tickets = $52.50 for 4 performance Individual Tickets = $15 per performance STUDENTS: Kindergarten-12th grade = $2 per performance College students = $5 per performance FAMILY TICKET: Up to 6 family members = $24 per performance (Family tickets MUST include at least one adult and be ordered in advance of the event at 434-989-3215.) TO ORDER: • All tickets can be ordered through www.lynchburgtickets.com or may be purchased at the door starting 45 minutes before each performance. AGAR IN THE COMMUNITY HARPIST SUSAN CAROL is conducting her vocal and harp music program, Music Care, once a month through AGAR at CENTRA/Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center in Amherst. She performs for groups and at the bedsides of residents. AGAR AT THE AMHERST COUNTY MUSEUM: In 2018-2019 AGAR will collaborate with the Museum on its Ghost Walk in October 2018, and on programs on Amherst County 20th-Century Historic Schools and Winton in the 20th Century. AGAR AND THE AMHERST COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES: Programs such as lectures, concerts, poetry readings, or films. POETRY WITH DELIVERED MEALS: AGAR sends poems by well-known American poets to individuals receiving home-delivered meals. AGAR IN THE SCHOOLS: AGAR artists present in classrooms for K-12 students in Amherst and Bedford counties. AGAR IN COLLEGE: AGAR presents performers and lectures at local colleges and universities. AGAR PERFORMERS sing, play, dance and act in community events such as festivals, fairs, assisted living facilities, and civic and religious organizations in Greater Lynchburg. AGAR DOCUMENTARIES: AGAR has conducted 133 first-person interviews about attending and teaching at 20th-century schools in Amherst County. LIYA STRING QUARTET Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 4 pmAt Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 401 N. Main St., Amherst, VA 24521 LIYA will play Mozart’s Prussian Quartet 590 and Smetana’s String Quartet No. 1. Performers are Christi Salisbury and Yevgeniy Dovgalyuk, violins; Domenico Luca Trombetta, viola; and David Feldman, cello.

(vielle and percussion). Trouvères and troubadours of 13th-century Northern France created these captivating works of song and poetry.

WINTERREISE Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 4 pm At Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 401 N. Main St., Amherst, VA 24521Winterreise D 911 (Winter Journey) is a song cycle for voice and piano by Franz Schubert. It is set to 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller. This performance will feature tenor Scott Williamson and pianist Melia Garber.

BEREGOVSKI SUITE: Alicia Svigals & Uli GeissendoerferSaturday, March 2, 2019 at 7:30 pmAt Agudath Sholom Synagogue, 2055 Langhorne Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501The suite is based on 1930’s Klezmer (Eastern European Jewish) music from the Ukraine. Alicia Svigals, well-known klezmer fiddler and a founder of Grammy-winning Klezmatics, has collaborated with artists Itzhak Perlman, and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Uli Geissendoerfer is a Grammy–nominated jazz and world music pianist and composer. In their Beregovski Suite, the duo perform melodies rescued by Soviet Jewish Ethnomusicologist Moishe Beregovski in settings that both recreate the lost world which gave them birth, and recontextualize them for the 21st century.

Brian Daurelle on piano, Francesca Abusamra on violin, Dudley Raine IV on viola, and Teresa Angell on cello. Raine was raised in Lynchburg where he played with

James Chamber Players. He trained in New York City at Manhattan School of Music and formed “opus87 piano quartet” with friends. Now he’s bringing the group back to Virginia for a chamber music visit.
