to work diligently with all forms of media, which helped her win the PSA contest and get a job with the Peace

Corps.,” said Pam Johnson, faculty of the School of Journalism and Broadcasting.

“We are very excited to have Sara leading our new PSA campaign,” said Jack Smith, President of The

Peace Corps. “We were very impressed with her skills and fresh ideas of how to present a PSA in all forms of

media. It is nice to see that schools like WKU are teaching students how to adjust to the rapid change of

technology which will help them in their field of interest.”

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then-Sen. John F. Kennedy challenged

students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in

developing countries. From that inspiration grew a federal government agency devoted to world peace and

friendship. This unique heritage continues to inspire and, since 1961, 200,000+ Americans have joined the

Peace Corps, serving in 139 countries and making a difference every day.
