Learning from RCC Experience

Quite challenging to challenge the current notions about children– Young children do not have intellect to

understand adult behavior– Reward or punishment is essential to make

children work– Good children are obedient children– Children cannot decide for themselves– Strict environment is good for the upbringing of

children

Learning from RCC Experience

Rethinking and reconstruction of deep rooted educational beliefs is a turbulent process– Actual learning in early years is learning about

numbers, alphabets, vocabulary etc.– Without repetition and drill, learning is not

completed– Learning happens in a sequential order– Something which cannot be assessed through

paper pencil test is not learning

Learning from RCC Experience

Long term, vibrant engagement of various stakeholders is essential for change– Schools need continuous support to get the

momentum for breaking the current myths, to challenge own perception and change practices

– ECD is not synonym of early schooling. Various people and services related to ECD need to work together with common understanding
