Declining Farms
Every week 300 farmers are forced to leave there farms. This is a growing problem because there is nearly fivemillion less farms than there were in 1930s.
This is a problem with this many farms being shut downbecause there in no one to take the place of thepreexisting farmers.
The U.S. loses 3,000 acres of good quality farm landevery day to development.

The tractor was the onlyinnovation in farming thatwould replace horses. Itsenormous impact, however, didnt come until
after the 1930s. A tractor would save labor,
but unless it could replacehorses and mules, it wouldnot be very cost effective.
The only profitable usesfor these tractors were forplowing, threshing, orpulling combines.
