Masthead is eye catching, reason

for this is because of its size and

boldness.

Black background is not very

conventional, I went for a black

background reason for this was

because the image stands out

on a black background. I tried to go for an easy layout soI decided not to put too many

cell lines on, a lot of music

magazine covers are crammed

with sell lines.

The masthead is normally behind the

head of the model but I tried tochange this and make the masthead

stand out more the reason for this is

because the word freestyle means

a lot and helps people become their

own.

Bar code and price tag isessential like every other

magazine!

I tried to achieve a positive light for my

readers, it is aimed at young teenagers

so people would stereo type and think

bad but this plays with their perception

of teenagers!Slogan it is short and sweet, hard

hitting and it makes the reader think.

Tried to make my magazine different

and a little twist by adding artist

names at the top these are the big

stars that haven't been included.The idea of a smart/sophisticated attire

for the model was very appealing as it

represented teens in a positive light

Changed the way the masthead is

set out. Most magazines have the

masthead on the back, mine is on

the front this is to emphasis on the

word freestyle.

Not that much texts keepingit simple let the reader explore

the magazine and go through

it.Images are key for the contents

page, most people are attracted

by things they can see and

images is the best way.

The layout of contents is unique I tried to

change it around and give it a different

effect, to make everything feel integrated I

crossed it over both colours

I tried to link the main cover and

contents page so I decided to keep

the same colour scheme going.

This is not really evident in other

magazines they normally have awhite background, I wanted to

change it and add a unique selling

point. The colour is appealing.

Magazine name and when it

has been released. This is

common in most magazine as

people can remember what

issue and which magazine

they are reading.Contents pages are mostly

filled so I followed this

trend and tried to fill my

contents page.

Bordermost magazines dont

have borders. I used a border to

make everything seem compact

and more grouped together.

I used the idea of the date being on

the top. It is clear and people can see

the date the magazine was released.

Images are distributed around the

page. I took this inspiration and

decided it works well.

I was also inspired by the layout ofthe text it seems very simple and

doesnt seem to be in the way of

anything.

I edited the main image to

add a unique look, the

shadow makes the image

stand out more and makes

people focus on it. After

they have taken in the

image they will read the

article.

I tried to keep a colour

scheme of blue, the blue on

the jumper the model is

wearing. This makes clear of

what Reevo has said.

A quote said by the musician,

quotes are used a lot in

double page spreads this is

to get the reader interested

and give them an idea of

what they are talking about.

This conforms to music

magazine conventions.

The plain white background

is used a lot on double page

spread the reason for this is

so the text and image can

stand out, I followed this

trend but decided not to

make it all plain so I added

the slight shadow. This justadds a bit of l ife to the page

so it doesn't seem plain.

This was just an idea at first,

I thought I could do

something different by

dividing the page where the

letter I is. This is not really

evident in other magazine

and makes my double pagespread unique.

Title is contrasting, the

reunited with is bold and

stands out but the reevo

part is slightly transparent.

Most double page spreads

have the writing all bold so

it stands out but this addsanother effect and brings

the title and text together

Page number is essential, it

might not seem to be

important but it keeps

everything in order. All

magazines have this.

The layout of the double page spread

attracted me as there is a clear

division of the image and the text. I

used this layout with my work but

changed it slightly.

The colour of the hat and the colour of the

letter K links both pages together, again

another inspiration I took as I l inked the

colour of from the jumper to the text.

Young people haven't really had good publicity, so I tried

to show the good side. This meant that I had to give a

positive impression and the best way to achieve this is by

showing people young people can be smartly dressed.

Costume is key because this is the only thing they will see

and people make judgements by what they see. The

smart look shows the seriousness and intelligent side ofthis person. This is a positive representation and gives a

good look on behalf of all teenagers!

The mast head has a double meaning, it is bold and

stands out to represent the teenagers big personalities

and their dreams. The word freestyle is very

important as it appeals to the younger people, everyone

is different and has their own unique talent this

magazine appreciates this. This positive representationis key as it might just help someone find a hidden talent.

All of these people named in the sell

lines are all British. This is a morale

boost for the teenagers as this could

be them. This might motivate them to

strive to success.

This is a motivation booster, the

artists named here came from

nothing, they made something of

them selves even if there was

restrictions. Young people will

acknowledge this and feel thatthey can achieve this. This is very

positive as it will make young

people realize they can achieve

anything if they put their mind to

it.

This magazine is not only aimed at the

male sex but also aimed at females. I tried

to make this clear by including big females

who have also made it in the music

industry. This again is another motivation

tactic. Females will not feel excluded andwill want to get involved.

I thought really hard about how I could represent

teenagers in a positive manner. I done this by thinking

about costume again. Normally teenagers are stereotyped

to be always wearing hoodies and tracksuits. This is not

the case in my contents page. Everyone is dressed in a

smart/casual manner. This gives a positive representation

as it breaks stereotype thoughts. People might view

teenagers in a different way after seeing this.

I tried to add more colours so the page is

bright and stands out. Bright colours also

trigger positive thoughts. Bright colours attract

and represent people in a good way. For

example using white and blue on an image

represents innocence and thats what these

people are innocent and young. They aretrying to live their dreams.

Different images give different perceptions

towards young people. These images have

positive meanings to them. The top image

represents fun, everyone was a teenager one

day so the older readers can relate to this and

also look back on their life.

The word contents is not in its normal

everyday format. I have changed it around and

tried to make it as unique as possible this is to

represent young teenager. Everyone is

different and has unique attributes. It might

not be as obvious but that was the intentionbehind the creation of the way this word was

set out.

A plain white background works well as

everything else will stand out on it. Also the

colour white represents purity. This gives a good

impression on the reader.

Main image The pose of the model is up

right and confident also the hand gesturestands out a lot. This has a positive

representation as people will see young

people to be confident. Again the model is

dressed smart/casual so that also portrays

teenagers in positive light. Younger

teenagers might think this is not

representing them but the chain and

bracelet make this image complete as

young people want their own identity andthis swag makes each young person

individual.

I tried to portray a positive image by making my

model talk in two different ways. He shows how

he can use formal and informal English (slang).

Formal English to show that he can fit into

society like everyone else and informal to show

that he still has that link from his

childhood/upbringing. This balance is key as itshows you can merge into two different areas.

The title Reunited With Reevo is clearly boldand it stands out. This represents young people

and their dreams. They dream high and try to

achieve this. It can also describe some young

peoples personalities/attitudes as they are bold

and stand out from other people.

The word Reunited is key. The reason for this

is that it makes people think about why thisperson left music and what did they do. Some

young people make choices that they later

regret and the word reunited reflects on this

persons past but now they are back on track

and aiming high again. This is a positive

representation as it shows that people can

make mistakes but the way to overcome these

mistakes is to put your life back on track.

Bauer Media is one ofEuropes largest privately owned publishing group. They specialise in the

production of magazines. The group is known world wide and offers 300 magazines in 15

different countries.

I think Bauer is the best institution for the distribution of my magazine, the main reason for thisis that my magazine is unique as there is no magazine out there that aims for young teenagers

that are into Rap & Grime. This area is known as a niche market and only the people in and

around London will buy it. This would be a great opportunity for Bauer as they want more

young peoples magazines and mine fits in perfectly with that they are looking for. The

magazine genre is unique as there is no other institutions that publish grime magazines. This is

a great opportunity as there has been an increase in Grime and UK Rap if Bauer takes this

opportunity they will start a new trend in the magazine business. If Bauer did decided to invest

in my magazine then it will be the first institution to distribute this genre of magazine. There isno other like it on the market so Bauer can start a new trend, also UK Grime & Rap is on an

uprising so now will be the best time.

The obvious target audience for my magazine is young people. These people will be aged between 14-19. They will

mostly be teenagers growing up in and around London. The genre of music these teens will be interested is either Rap

or Grime. The main reason for this is that these two types of music helps express a persons feelings. This might be the

case with all other types of genre but Rap and Grime is very close to the people who are growing in and around of

London. The society that they have been brought up in is related in this type of music. The main reason for this age

group is because it is a growing number in the UK. This age group is a large target group and my magazine is aimed

towards young people the main reason for this is to get them motivated. Young people lack in ambition, they dreamhigh but these expectations are demoralized by the hard society they grow up in. Not only does this magazine attract

them with the big named stars but it also gives them hope that they them selves can prosper and achieve great things if

they are willing to put their minds to it. In addition to this the ages 14 19 is when young people are in school and

preparing for later life this is the best time to get them in the right mind frame for them to do good. To be more specific

my audience is of both genders, this again meant that id have to do attract the boys and girls attention.

With my magazine I also wish to attract an older audience. Over the ages of 20 the main reason for this is that young

people have been misjudged by the older generations quite a bit and I wish to tackle these views that they have. Tryingto attract an older audience is hard but it is not my priority my main priority is attracting the younger teenagers aged

between 14-19.

Some of Maslows hierarchy of needs also apply in my work. The main part that applies is the esteem section. The

readers that read this magazine will have the ability to achieve what they want they just need a little boost. Also they

acknowledge the achievements of people who have come from similar situations to them. They respect the names they

see on the main cover.

The main way I tried to attract my audience was through the colour scheme and main image. This is like many other

magazines but I took a different route. The colour scheme of black and yellow is very important. I got the idea to use this

from a very well known song that was sung by an upcoming star Wiz Khalifa . His song black&yellow had the world on a

stand still. People of all ages ranging up to 30 knew the lyrics to this song. It was memorable because of its chorus

black&yellow. I tried to merge this feeling into my magazine by using these two colours. If viewers saw this colour they

will instantly think of the song. The colours also contrast each other a bright yellow on a back ground of black stands out a

lot this attracts the attention of the readers.

The main image also plays a big role as this is the first thing people will look at. The main image of a magazine has to appeal

to the visual needs of the reader. If the image does not attract the audience then there is no point. Instead of using a

female half naked I opted to go for a different approach and go for a more sophisticated look. The male gaze does not apply

here. The main reason why I did not put in a female was because people will just look at the cover and judge how pretty or

beautiful the model is, like Laura Mulvey said the main focus will be on the girl. This is the main reason why I decided to go

against using a female model, people will be more interested in her and not the magazine. Also dressing the model in smart

clothing might have another side to it, this is not normal to see a model on the cover of a music magazine wearing a suit.

Audiences will be intrigued by this and will want to read on.

Finally, trying to attract both genders posed a challenge but I over came this by mentioning both male and female

musicians. This might not seem a lot but it has the power to motivate both genders also bearing in mind that some of these

musicians came from nothing they were normal kids growing up in the UK and they were able to peruse their dream ofbecoming a music artist. By mentioning these artists the audience can put them selves into the artists shoes and see how it

felt.

Throughout this project I have challenged my self and faced challenges that I had to overcome. Many of these challenges

were to do with the use of new programmes such as Photoshop. Photoshop is one of the hardest programmes to use as it

requires high level of intelligence it also requires patience as not everything is clear so I had to get use to the controls.

Photoshop is a soft wear that is used by professionals so being able to master it at this age is a real benefit. I used

Photoshop for the production and making of my magazine. Photoshop is the only soft wear that allows you to design what

you want from scratch. Simple tools such as the

I have also used Blogger. This is probably the most important website as I had to upload everything here for the examiners

to see. At first Blogger seemed very confusing as it was hard to upload PowerPoint documents but then I realised I had to

go through another process and this involved Scribd. I prefer to do my work on PowerPoint or Microsoft word so I was

using Scribd a lot.

Overall I have learnt that there is a lot of work that goes into the production of magazines. At first I doubted it and thought

that it would be easy but as the course developed and I learnt how to use all of these soft wears and programmes I soon

realised that it is harder than I thought. There are different stages to constructing a magazine first you have to start by hand

drawing out a plan/idea of what you are going to do. The next stage is the production this is where Photoshop comes in

and the use of technology comes into play.

Personally I think my preliminary task had help me a lot for the overall production of my magazine. The main reason for

this is because I did not know how to use Adobe Photoshop. My lack of knowledge with this soft wear was very poor and

the preliminary task had helped me navigate and understand which tool does what. When It came to the task of

completing our full product I found it easy as I knew which tool had what use.

If I did not know how to use Photoshop then I wouldnt have been able to add certain effects to magazine such as the

shadow on the double page spread. We had a lesson on how to edit images. In this lesson we were just playing around

with the composition of the images and I came over the shadow effect and when it came to creating my double page

spread I remembered this and decided that it would add a good effect so I used it. This was a major success as it added

live to my image.

In addition to this I learnt to value my target audience, in the preliminary task we were appealing to students of a age

similar to us so we had to use simple things to attract attention such as bright colours. I carried on the idea of using

bright colours for my magazine but decided to add also a darker colour to try and attract the older audience this worked

as the colours complemented each other, this made both colours stand out equally.

The main factors I had to take into consideration from my preliminary task and my music magazine is the colour scheme

and the main image. These two factors have to be appealing and attract a wide range of audience.

All in all I think that I have learnt a lot from the production of the preliminary task and my final magazine I think this is

evident in my work. I could have done better but the quality of the work shows a huge progression from someone who

has never used Adobe Photoshop.

I asked 15 people what they thought of my magazine here are 3 replies. The age ranged between these 15 people

ranges from 13 20.

The overall concept of the magazine is very appealing. Id say the strongest page out of the 3 is the double page spread.

It stands out because of its so simple. The text is bold and the interview is interesting as you get to know the person.

Fahmida 15:

The magazine cover is attractive but it needs to be filled more. I like the colour scheme as it stands out and appeals to

the audience. I also like how you put in up coming female celebrities as the female gender can be interested in this

magazine as well. The best part of the magazine is the double page spread it stands out from the rest.

Overall the magazine is really good! To me the contents page stands out the most as the colour combination works

really well and there are a lot of images so the audience take in a lot. I would suggest the main cover to be improved as

it doesnt really have that much going on.

Overall the comments were really good, people mostly likes the double page spread and thought that my main cover

needed work I would agree with most of these views.
