Between the 1600s and 1900s, Europeans began to create colonies in Africa, taking an active role in their
governance.
Why did they do this?

gain an understanding of Africa’s geography3. With your group, use the blank map provided to mark where your country
would like to take control of4. Create two rules that European colonies should follow when colonizing the land5. Create a one minute proposal which will include:
a. Why your group would like to colonize the regionb. Why the other countries should give you what you want
1. Negotiate with other countries
2. Redraw your territory on a new map
3. Prepare to present again (why do you deserve this land?!)
