The country received heavy rain during August and the rainfall recorded above average. The Eastern and Southeastern regions and some parts of the capital region experienced heavy rain, and some parts of the Northeastern region received moderate rain, while seasonal dryness continued in the rest of the country,
and no significant change occurred in temperature during August. Shiberghan and Mazar with 43.2 ° C were the warmest spots of the country, and lower temperature has been recorded 7.2 ° C in Bamyan province.

At the result of seasonal monsoon, heavy precipitation continued in the country during the month of August 2010, which resulted unusual heavy rainfall in most parts of the country. The Eastern region, Southeastern, and some parts of the Capital region has received above normal precipitation in this month. Heavy rainfall during August 2010 cased some problems to the farmers and people for example, flash flooding which has destroyed considerable Agricultural lands in above mentioned regions.
Comparison of rainfall data for the month of August 2010 with the same month in 2009 (chart 1) shows significant increase of rainfall in most parts of the country particularly in the Eastern region, Southeastern and Capital region during the month of August 2010 over the same month of last year.
Significant increasing of rainfall during the month of August 2010 was unusual in the long time of recent years. Comparison of rainfall data for the month of August 2010 with the same month of long term average (chart 2),shows significant increase of rainfall during the month of August 2010 over the same month of long term average. Distribution of rainfall as usual was variable in different provinces of the country. As map (10) shows the Eastern and Southeastern regions and some parts of the capital region has experienced heavy rain, while some parts of the Northeastern region received moderate rain, seasonal dryness continued in the rest of the country.

Rainy Days for the Month of August 2010
In the month of August 2010 Afghanistan experienced more rainy days than last year and even more than the normal time. particularly in the Eastern region, Southeastern and Capital region.
