WHO ARE WE? AFC!Welcome to Annerley Football Club
Check out the recently improved Senior Clubhouse!
Fast Football FactsItalian Guiseppe Meazza’s shorts fell down as he was taking a penalty shot during the 1938World Cup semi-final. He pulled up his shorts and still managed to beat Brazil’s Valter Zenga.Italian striker Luigi Riva once broke the arm of a spectator with one of his powerful shots.David Beckham is said to be one of the richest football players with total annual earnings ofmore than $50 million.
Last Saturday, a dedicated group of Annerley players and coaches armedthemselves with buckets, mops and paintbrushes to give the Senior Clubhouse amuch needed makeover. Thank you to Gemma Layfield, Kate Deegan and MickTotidis for leading the charge, and to all those that volunteered their time to helpmake the clubhouse a more welcoming environment
The Capital 1 team had a fantastic preseasonthat had mouths salivating at the prospect of atop four finish. An abundance of injuriesbrought us crashing back to earth in theseason proper. However, true grit anddetermination over the past month hasreturned us to positive thoughts of what couldbe to come.Although our performance lastweek was poor, another few wins will have ushurtling up the table. As a result, oppositionteams are starting to see what we are made ofand must be watching us closely over theirshoulders
Men's Capital League Update by Russell MapriThe Reserve grade goal for this year has always beento remain mid-table and, in turn, provide our top teamwith the depth we have been lacking over the pastcouple of years. Although results haven't gone ourway, between the Ressies and the City boys, we arefinally starting to produce a plethora of players thatare itching for top team jerseys. The recent recordscore for the 2015 season as well as six gameswithout a loss have now shown everyone what thisteam is made of. More importantly, we have proved toourselves that we are a force to be reckoned with.Afew more wins and our goal is certainly within ourgrasp.

Coach: Russell Mapri
Last week was a hiccup that we couldn'treally afford to have. The loss to MtGravatt, as well as now having majorplayers out for this week's game againstthe form team of the competition, havecertainly made our situation challenging. However, I know our boys are up to it.
Every week in this competition is tough and we werepointing in the right direction prior to last week, havingnot lost a game in three weeks. Unfortunately that isfootball and instead of standing with our backs againstthe wall, this week we plan to smash through it. The boyswho are stepping up are absolutely pumped to showtheir worth. GO ANNERLEY!!
Coach's Corner! with Russell Mapri
Previous Men's Results...Capital 1 and Reserves travelled to local rival Mt Gravatt on Saturday. The first team took an early lead butwere unable to hold on, losing 3-1. The Reserves were brave in a brutal encounter, settling for a 1-1 draw. Itwas a tough night for City 1 and 2 who both faced City League powerhouse University, losing 4-1 and 2-1respectively. City 3 lost 5-2 away at Moggill FC. City 4 looked set to be the only men's team to record a winbut succumbed to a last second equaliser to draw 3-3 with Virginia.

Coach: Rodo Barahona
We are back at home this Saturday andeveryone is eager to continue our winningform from the last two games. Kangaroo Pointare currently on top of the table and if we cansecure a win we will continue our climb to bejust a few points shy of them. For us it's allabout having fun and enjoying the sport.
Coach's Corner! with Rodo Barahona
Previous Women's Results...Our BWPL team played the table-topping Pine Hills away from home on Sunday in what FootballBrisbane described as the match of the year. The game certainly didn't disappoint, but despite a greatperformance from the girls, they went down 1-0 in a thriller. Earlier on the weekend the City 1 teamhad a strong 3-1 win at Easts. Our City 4s had a 2-1 win at North Star and our City 5s had acommendable 1-1 draw away to current leaders, Grange Thistle.
Also, I would like to thank all the players from the other divisionsand your coaches for letting you come and give us a hand whenwe have been short of players; it shows the community spirit ofAnnerley FC. As a last note, I would like to welcome Mick Totidisas the new Assistant Coach of Div 4.
Goodluck to all Annerley teams this weekend!
I don't discriminate, I love allfood. Although potatoes arepretty high up there on myfavourites list.
