I'm going to use a cute little outrunner with a 10-4.7 prop (2408-21T). I have that same motor in my "Butterfly" ARF and its amazing how much power that little motor has!Hobbycity Online R/C Hobby Store : TowerPro Brushless Outrunner 2408-21 $7.95

Its pretty cheap, so I'll try it first and then go from there and try something else.I think your design uses the old 400 geared motor too, like mine. I'm designing a unique motor mount to slide into the gap, where that old gear motor would mount to.(I'll see if I can get some pics)Jan__________________

Nice! I'll enjoy seeing images of it when it's airworthy...

Mine's set to use a 300 geared running an 11x7 prop. I've picked up a couple of GWS 12x8 props, which I'll modify the shape of, but I've no idea where to get the stupid nuts for them.What came on the gear is too small and it looks like there's a conical one for the front. Do you have any ideas where to find these? Or should I just dig around in the spares drawer forsomething that's close?

Dry fit of the wings. This made my fianc happy as she started to see where this was all going & that there is life to be had from all these sticks.

No go today as I was letting my lungs clear from balsa dust, just finished the basics on the ailerons. I suppose I'd cut faster with 100 grit but then I could make mistakes faster than withthe 200 I am using. *le sigh* So this is what took me out. Based off the images from Koloman's wings, I decided to add more thickness to my upper wing tips then sand like a maniac...

I've still got to shape the under side of the tips and the leading edge though. Time to get my mask on, I'm getting too old to do this to myself....

The Spandau from Wright Bros. These are nice little kits and the manila stock shrouds work quite nicely. They add quite alot to the finished product.

Roughly placed on the fuse. I'm still deciding on how much detail to put into this. I'd need to make up some card stock feed bins and such. I've got the detail set for the instruments, justneed to get on making them up.

MaxFactory Dummy Engine. It's a bit large for this kit but shouldn't be too noticeable. They seem to really like straws as building materials though. I'd pulled the cam tube to paint therocker covers and the paint came off showing the lovely yellow stripes. Too bad they didn't use latex paint.

Using the Exhaust Collector from Kurt's kit. The MaxFactory seemed way too small for the size engine. I'll have to get a better eye on this later but it seems a bit big, but has a muchbetter shape to begin with. Just need to get some dowels for the Exhaust Pipes...

Okay, I went back at it a bit. Got the hinges set on the ailerons then dry fit them to the wing. I've got the major structures dry fit (held together with Painters tape obviously).

One of the things I discovered is that the Cabane wires need to be bent forward at the top. They're supposed to be canted back to bring the Upper Wing back far enough to engage the Vstruts properly.

I've really got to get over it and put the radio gear in somewhere. I'm not sure if moving the servos back from the cockpit area would be a good idea due to CG. From what I've read the DV has tail heavy issues to begin with. It should be interesting with all the 1/32 ply on it too. But the HS-55s are pretty damn light too. Hmmm....Good night all,

A couple more dry fit images. The wheels are MaxFactory & sightly oversized. I could probably get away without cutting down the 12" prop with these on but they just don't look quiteright. Could be that they're too narrow?

Dang! I thought I'd posted these already.

For the sake of comparison, here it is on the kit supplied wheels. Not sure which I'll go with as it's only about 1/4" difference between the two. (the yellow ones are from Maxford)

I'm leaning more toward the kit but my fianc likes the Maxford's. The one advantage there would be that little bit more ground clearance....

Just got the cradle finished today. As I've been following Chris & Koloman's works on the DII/DIII thread, I thought this was a good idea (mine is much cheesier but doesn't need tosupport a real airframe).

Now I really don't have an excuse to keep from sheeting the bottom, for a start. Looking at the way Koloman has made his panels has made me think of smaller ones too....

This is so cool! It's probably due to the thinness of the ply but it started to get flexible after an hour or so. After about two & 1/2 it feels like stiff Silly Putty. I'm sure it's going to be moredifficult than I expect but it's not going to be as hard as I thought.
