BThe Acoustic People
sonic excellence for acoustic, electric and bass
Preliminary
2
Across the world, acoustic instruments have come into focus. All kinds of instruments from traditional to mo-dern can be enjoyed in solo or ensemble settings and within all musical styles. Yet as little ‚plugged in‘ the ‚unplugged‘ may be, authentic amplification is the key! Every instrument deserves to be clearly heard in its na-tural beauty. Since 1992 we at AER have never let go our passion for instruments, music, tone and that little bit extra we can add on top to push things further, perform better, be ahead – we just love it.
Being regarded the reference class in acoustic amplifi-cation (we received five MIPA awards for best acoustic amps) and with the many positive comments of you, thrilled and committed musicians, we have a lot of con-fidence and motivation to keep on going! It is to say ‘thank you‘ for your support and understanding and for staying with us even if things take a little longer.
There are many ways for us to explore still, to improve and get better. We do feel the road has not ended yet, thus we advance into other fields including musical inst-ruments and accessories. We know little things can make big difference and be sure if we can hear a difference we will pass it on to you.
Besides this we will maintain what we are doing: deli-ver extraordinary solutions for musicians from the ins-trument to the loudspeaker. We are very serious about what we do, how we do it and where we do it – a lot of research, well thought out concepts, exquisite compo-nents and materials, high manufacturing standards and quality control. We respect musical instruments, we care about you and your musical needs. You can talk to us and you will find that there are specialists close to you. AER products are no commodities. You will find them in qualified, serious and passionate stores for musical ins-truments in your country. People there are experienced to answer your questions and they provide the opportu-nity to help you make up your mind. They are backed up by a network of excellent distributors who are respon-sible for AER in your country.
Be sure all issues will be dealt in a quick, uncomplicated and satisfying way. If you ask us for recommendation… please understand, we will always say what we believe in… besides that and the ‚fog‘ out there, there is no way other, for you personally than getting out there, evalua-ting yourself, with your instrument in your environment and talking to people that you trust… eye to eye. We do not want to spoil your pleasure coming to a decision and enjoying it! If it is with AER… fantastic, if not… it is more than OK. It is your decision that counts!
This catalogue gives you an abstract on the AER amp product range. You may not find every AER product in each country AER is distributed in for various good reasons. For inquiries, get in touch with us at [email protected]
The products are always subject to change without notice. Attached Arabic numbers indicate major version changes (e.g. concept), small indexes indicate model up-dates effecting e. g. speakers, amps or effects.
We hope it helps a bit.

The Alpha defines the starting point of serious acoustic amplifi-cation at AER. Based on the success and the experience with the Compact 60 we developed an even smaller lightweight model that has no difficulties living up to the rigors of the road.
Open sounding and quick in response this amp masters diffe-rent ranges and is thus not afraid of bigger instruments.

Reinforcing the starting point
We felt the Alpha needed a bit of support, and we… a little more attention to the starting range. Besides a facelift – a diffe-rent look – a bigger cabinet and a ‚tuned up‘ power amp move the Alpha plus into a different league of performance. More volume, extended headroom in combination with the Alpha simplicity.

The Compact has proven that there is an all-round, small, powerful and yet simple to use complete solution for stage, stu-dio and home use that works up to the highest demands and standards of acoustic players.
It has found many friends around the world with its size – smiled at in the beginning – being its second strongest side. It has be-come the standard equipment – „…the amp of choice“ – for those musicians who value sound, simplicity and independence. It has qualified for nearly all instruments and applications.

The Compact Classic pro is aimed at classical players and their instruments. Compared to the Compact 60, the Compact Classic benefits from an improved 2-way-speaker system, a more com-plex three band EQ with parametric bass and the 32bit AER digi-tal effect processor with carefully designed presets for classical instruments.
All the features combine perfectly to more allow for the finer tonal texture of a classical instrument throughout the full audio band. It enhances the low frequency response without increa-sing feedback risk and creates beautiful ambiences that enrich the tone.

Compactmobile 2
Musicians often asked us for a system for acoustic instruments that provides AER sound and quality everywhere… indepen-dent from the mains.
This is exactly what the Compact mobile has been developed for. Based on the Compact 60, thus identical in sound, but with adapted technology and slightly changed dimensions you can play without the mains for three to four hours. Whether you cho-se to play in the old town or on a glacier, the sound is always clear and omnipresent.
In case of insufficient battery power the intelligent power con-trol gives a warning and saves you from lack of power during performance. Moreover it prevents the batteries from being completely exhausted.

The Domino started out as mono, multi-channel acoustic so-lution for bigger stages. It allows 4 signals at the same time and is fully equipped to work as an orchestersystem for small and medium sized venues especially in combination with the active extensions AS 281.
To maintain almost the same sound quality we decided to multi-ply the soundsystems rather than using standard configurations like 12“ and tweeter for higher volumes. Thus the Domino is equip-ped with two 8“ twin cone speakers and two combined 60 watt amps working as a 100 watt power unit. This gives him the accu-racy in the midrange and the speed for a realistic and vivid sound.

His master‘s voice
This is where it all started and it is undoubtedly regarded the reference system for acoustic instruments and the best that we can do in a small box like this – the ultimate solution for a soloist. The AcoustiCube was granted three M.I.P.A. awards so far.
In its 3rd generation now we have implemented advanced dynamic control technology and extended the dynamic range substantially. The new two-way speaker system is an incredib-le improvement too! It allows a much clearer and defined bass response and much lighter, more sparkling reproduction of the complete range up to finest texture.
Cube 3 is a full two channel version now allowing identical fea-tures on both channels. It needed a face-lift for more operational clarity and to allow additional important controls on the front panel.
In essence we have combined all the suggestions of Cube enthusiasts over the years with all our knowledge and experi-ence…without compromise… and we are more than pleased.

The BassCube 2 has proven to do an excellent job to reproduce double bass authentically.
Well balanced analogue sound design covers the ranges gent-ly and proportionately so that tone always stays clear, crisp and transparent yet powerful and defined without any stress!
Its two channels are equally equipped and allow two different instruments set up in all comfort – and be sure it works very well for electric bass too.
Whether ‘arco’ or ‘pizzicato’ – the BassCube 2 sounds like your bass: round and open – you can hear the stroke of your bow as true to life as the placing of your fingers on the fingerboard.

The Basic Performer is a solution for Bass and instruments of the lower registers based on the experience of multiplying well proven AER acoustic systems.
Small twin-cone systems are fast, provide a superior coverage for the critical mid-range and have enough substance in the low end.
The AER band-pass/bass-reflex cabinet design supports the reproduction of even the lowest frequencies with definition. High-End preamps, proper filters and additional professional sound design make the Basic Performer a multitalented alround solution.
The sound characteristics are full range thus open and light yet breathing as well as grumbling and surprisingly appropriate for far more instruments than the bass-related instruments, e. g. harp, cello, accordion…

Over many years you have asked us for something small for electric bass… simple, powerful and with a performance hard to believe…
And there it is – the AER Bottom Line Amp one.
Based on a superb 10“ in a bass reflex encolsure, in combina-tion with a serious 200 watt power amp, more than sufficient power-supply and extended dynamic headroom – not to forget Paul’s helping hands and ears – it is finally done.

Powerful and versatile
Amp two is the second member of the Bottom Line combo bass amps. In line with Amp one, but with more defined speakersys-tem and more power. A 12“ neodymium woofer for quick and full bass response combined with a 4“ mid-high direct radiating speaker for gentle trebles allows a wider range of sounds from funk to pop and rock to jazz.
As further difference to the Amp one the signal path is lead trough adjustable compression pre EQ to provide even more dynamic headroom.

With all the experience in acoustics, dynamic control and sound design AER reaches out into the field of professional elec-tric bass amplification systems and introduces the AER Bottom Line Head one.
The concept: a small, light-weight two channel class d inte-grated amplifier head that covers the range from Anglo-saxon ‘punch’ to european ‘hifi’ orientated sounds. Head one can be used in three operational modes: 2-channel full-range mode, 2-way active mode and bridge-mode in combination with Cab one, Cab two or Cab three.
It is equipped with ‘tube emulation’ for ‘drive’ sounds, two in-dependent EQs, ‘colour-switch’ and ‘tone leverage’. Class d amps are getting more popular as besides efficiency they can be made so surprisingly small and light. Besides these benefits they inhe-rit a lot of problems (noise, distortion, cut-off) especially if they are used in ‘limit mode’. Their overall performance is extremely depending on the design and the smart use of controls and pro-tections to guarantee proper functionality. We have done a lot to make that happen!
Thanks to Paul from ‘Bass matters’ for his time, effort and advice.

Design features, besides efficiency, light in weight, small in size, reproduction of a truthfull tone, have mainly been a fast attack time, low distortion and high power handling. All of this is extre-mely demanding and requires a lot of attention to all detail.
Cab one is a two way full range loudspeaker system. To extend the bass range we decided to apply two 10“ speakers in push-pull mode. This allows a smaller cabinet size keeping the low cut-off frequency and thus allows more low end besides perfor-ming with less distortion.
Instead of a horn or tweeter, which we are not really friends of, we trusted the performance of the AER 8“ twin cone extended range chassis to cover the mid and high frequency range.

Cab two is a 15“, Cab three a 12“ neodymium bass reflex loud-speaker-system. Both work stand alone with Head one. Cab two in addition is the perfect match to work in conjunction with Cab one as full stack.
Besides many other design concepts bass reflex still is a very va-lid compromise that provides extended bass range in a relatively small cabinet with reasonable step response.
The cabinets are all made with extreme care, rock-solid com-ponents and a lot of additional bracing to keep the level of static noise as low as possible.

It has been a challenge for long and so here they are: The first AER amps for electric guitar.
Solid state input-stage and tube input-stage, tube distortion, and 200/240 watt high efficiency solid state power-amp.
According to AER‘s sound philosophy, the cheeky d. is extremly clear, powerful and direct. It offers the sensitivity and distinction to follow the smallest changes and provide you with enormous dynamic reserves.
On the contrary the d. 12“v, with its more classic approach, stays warm and smooth and has an eye for the vintage-orientated players.
For jazz, fast as hell for country-rock and fat and loud for rock ‘n‘ roll.

The AG 82 is an active loudspeaker-system making use of ‘compact‘ system components such as: twin-cone speaker, power-amp, controller and cabinet.
Without special acoustic voicing the focus is mainly on its su-perb audio-abilities and thus it offers an additional range of ap-plications as e. g.: floor/stage or keyboard monitor, self powered full-range P. A. system or in combination with modeling amps for electric guitar…
and for sure it is a valid supplement to any AER acoustic amp using twin-cone speaker technology.

AS 281 is a small full range 2 way active system in D’Appolito construction, based on 2x8“ low mid speakers with polypropy-len cone embracing a bi-radial horn (LM-H-LM). The main ad-vantage of the D‘Appolito-concept is constant directivity espe-cially in the ‘hang over’ range of the speakers.
It is equipped with a high-quality hybrid power amplifier that delivers 100 watts at 8 ohm with substantial power reserve due to oversized power supply.
It is a stand alone system for general reinforcement/installation purposes or any monitor application. It is perfectly matched to complement AER products as acoustiCube 3 or the Dominos into full stereo systems. In combination with AS 550 D/Sub it forms a PA system for small clubs and/or acoustic, jazz or fusion ensembles.

The concept behind the construction is to have a small sound system, tonally well balanced with excellent speech intelligi-bility, sufficient bass yet quick in response. A combination of bass reflex and band-pass supports the low ranges. Four power amplifiers driving four extended range 8“ loudspeakers and a dome-tweeter, are hidden within this simple looking full-range system.

The AS 550 D mid/high system is a direct radiating coaxial self-powered systems in a small bass-reflex enclosure. It is capable to handle multiple applications e.g speech, delay-line or near-field PA where no sub bass is required. The components are matched, optimised for maximum efficiency and tuned for superb sound reproduction.
Through the use of integrated class d amplifier and switch mode power supplies we can keep size and weight surprisingly low however electronically well oversized they allow maximum dynamic range.
The AS 550 D sub is a self-powered bassreflex with a 15“ low frequency chassis.
The tuned cabinet and the class d power amp with 550 W / 8 ohms permanent power (1000 W impuls power) deliver substan-tial bass in a very small cabinet. It also allows enough dynamic headroom for high step response.
Both, top and sub are perfectly matched and tuned and form an easy to use, lightweight PA system for medium sized appli-cations.
