    ProjectsatAEEE ProgrammetoPromoteModelEnergyPerformanceContracts(EPC)toScaleuptheESCO&EnergyEfficiencyBusinessinIndiaAEEEseekstopromotetheadoptionofthemodelEPCforEnergyEfficiencyprojectsinIndia.

    Thekeyoutcomeofthe“ProgrammetoPromoteModelEnergyPerformanceContracts(EPC)toScaleuptheESCO&EnergyEfficiencyBusinessinIndia”wastheearlyadoptionofstandardEPCtemplatesthroughregionalworkshops,involvingsectorexpertstosupportthecampaign.Theprojectaimedto provide a deeper understanding of the characteristics of EPC projects, especially criticalcomponents such as risk management strategies, conflict resolution and M&V plans, as well astechnical, financial and business implications of the same. The project was supported by ShaktiSustainableEnergyFoundation(SSEF).Under the project, AEEE conducted a series of five workshops across India to adopt EPC forIndustrial projects. . AEEEalso conductedNationalESCOworkshopwhere learning andkey takeawaysoftheworkshopswerepresented.Theprincipleoutcomesandimpactsoftheprogrammewere:

    • Increased adoption of themodel EPC and associatedM&V template among ESCOs. SIDBIalsoadoptedthemodelEPC.

    • AdatabaseofEEprojects,practices,systemsandprofessionals.• ArosterofregionalexpertstosupportESCOsacrossthecountry.

    PlanningandImplementationofthe2016CleantechEcosystemActivitiesIndiaGEF-5CleantechProgrammeforSMEsUnder the direction of the UNIDO Project Manager, and in close cooperation with the NationalProject Coordinator and Project Management Unit (PMU) for UNIDO, Alliance for an EnergyEfficientEconomy(AEEE),asoneofthenationalcounterpartexecutingagencies,wasresponsibleforthesuccessful implementationofthespecificactivitiesrelatingtoGlobalCleantechInnovationProgramme (GCIP). Under the project, UNIDO supported AEEE in organizing workshops topromoteCleanTechnologiesandEnergyEfficiency,aswellasinnovationsintheseareasinvariousSME clusters.. The workshop saw interaction with SME units to understand the operating statistics ( energy use, O&M expenditures, pain points etc) and working conditions, adopted best practices of the industrial units. The main objective of the workshops conducted in Firozabad, MandiGobindgarh and Bhopal was to promote and sensitize “Innovation” concept that needs to be clubbed with other important issues such as energy efficiency opportunities, project implementation models and relevant policy measures. AEEE is also conducting Business Clinic for providing training to the SMEs with the theme of energy efficiency.

    StakeholderbriefingseriesonPerform-Achieve-Trade(PAT)schemeAlliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) and Sustainability Outlook (SO) are workingtogether to develop a quarterly briefing series on PAT with DCs, policy makers, catalysts andindustryexpertstocapturethepulseoftheenergyefficiencymarketinIndia.Theobjectiveofthiscollaboration between Sustainability Outlook and AEEE is to provide evidence based marketassessment to present the stakeholder view point, enable higher uptake of PAT through peerlearningandincubateindustryandpolicyactiononenergyefficiency.ThefirstPATPulsebriefwaspublished on January 2016the theme Tracking the Perform-Achieve-Trade Scheme for EnergyEfficiency.ThesecondPATPulseBriefwaspublishedinthemonthofMay2016withthethemeofEE investment opportunity. The third brief was published in the month of June 2016 with thetheme of Asset Optimization to Drive the Next Wave of Energy Efficiency in India. AEEE andSustainabilityOutlookwillbepublishingmoremarketbriefswiththedifferentthemes.

    ApplicationGuideforM&VinStreetLightingTheM&VApplicationGuide forStreetLightingProjectshasbeendeveloped toaidurbanlocalbodies andprojectdevelopers in implementingenergyefficiencyprojects for streetlighting.ItwasdevelopedwhiletakingintoaccountthecurrentstreetlightingscenarioinIndia, and more specifically, the gaps in M&V for energy efficiency projects in streetlighting. The project was supported by International Institute for Energy Conservation(IIEC),EnergyEfficiencyServiceslimited(EESL)andWorldBank.

    WorkshopsStakeholders Consultation on National Energy Policy (NEP) with a focus onEnergyEfficiencyNITI(National Institute for Transforming India) Aayog, Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy(AEEE) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized theStakeholders ConsultationonNational Energy Policy (NEP) with a focus onEnergyEfficiencyonOctober 27, 2015. The workshop focused on all aspects of energy efficiency, e.g.industrial and building energy efficiency, Standards and Labelling, DSM and various Incentivesprogramme, EE financing and market creation and implementation frameworks with a specificfocus on the role of private sector, energy efficient transportation, etc. This is the first time thatenergy efficiency was considered a part of the mainstream strategy while formulating nationalenergy policy. The inputs from stakeholders were documented in the report submitted to NITIAayog.

    ProgrammetoPromoteModelEnergyPerformanceContracts(EPC)toScaleuptheESCO&EnergyEfficiencyBusinessinIndiaUnder theproject,AEEEconductedsixnationalworkshopsall across India,viz Pune,Bengaluru,Ahmedabad,Chandigarh,Hyderabad,KolkattatopromoteadoptionofEPC.AEEEalongwithSIDBIas a national partner promoted theworkshops. AEEE also partneredwith SDAs to promote EPCduring the workshop. Apart from this, two Multilateral Bilateral organizations stakeholdersmeetingwereconductedtogetconsultationabouttheprogramme.Theresultsof theprojectwaspresentedduringtheNationalESCOdialogueconductedonMarch21,2016.

    WebinarsAEEE webinars are convening platform to engage in dialogue with policy makers,associations, institutions and multilateral, bilateral organization for wider markettransformationcentredexclusivelyonenergyefficiencyinIndia.

Over the next fewmonths, AEEE and Sustainability Outlook are workingtogether to highlight and address the resource efficiency challenges being faced by theIndianindustry.
