Presentation of Information with MS PowerPoint

Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web

Pages• We used HTML to create websites• Through a program called Secure File

Transfer Client we were able to put these webpages online

Visual Programming with Alice

• Alice allowed us to create animation and movies

• With basic programming skills and an understanding of the program we were able to create a short slip of frogs having a conversation and then jumping into a lake when a hawk flies by.

• We created a clock where the hands actually work like a real clock.

Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript

• After learning HTML, we were able to move onto JavaScript with allowed us to create attractive and interactive pages

• We created a t-shirt order page that calculates the price of t-shirts based on the size and color chosen. It then added up the total price of the order.

• We also created a simple black jack game that allowed the user to bet a certain amount and randomly gave a total card value to the user and the computer, and in turn announced who the winner of the round was.

• We learned how to manipulate financial data using advanced spreadsheet skills with Microsoft Excel

• We then analyzed the performance of stocks and investments by making a slideshow on Microsoft PowerPoint

Date Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel

• Through Excel, we were able to create a spreadsheet that calculated how much extra money we had to spend while attending school at UCSD

Desktop Publishing with MS Word

• Through Microsoft Word, we learned about file structures and how to use advanced features

• We created a page about our major that included out planned classes.

• We also duplicated a page online into a more formatted setting including subsection, pictures, and a table of content.

Computational ThinkingCSE 3 gives you Information Technology (IT) fluency including proficiency with certain computer applications (traditional computer literacy), principles on which you can build new understand as IT evolves, high-level reasoning and IT problem solving, and basic web programming (HTML/XHTML).

• Becoming skilled at Information Technology

• Algorithms and Digitizing Information• Data and Information Analysis and

Presentation• Problem Solving
