Starting in the Namibian capital of Windhoek, you can choose from two contrasting adventures. With each tour lasting 8 days, both are designed to take in the best the North and South has to offer.

NAMIBIA NORTH TOUR COAST & ELEPHANTS

The focus here is clearly on Namibia’s rich and impressive wildlife. With visits to both the imposing Okonjima Nature Reserve and the spectacular Etosha National Park, you can expect to see Africa’s big five (lions, elephants, Cape buffalo, leopards and rhinos), as well as a host of other captivating wildlife in their natural habitat. And of course, no trip to Africa would be complete without seeing the beautiful and majestic African elephant.

A trek across the challenging great sand passages will take you to one of the largest fur seal colonies in the world. It’s also here that you’ll be able to witness two of nature’s greatest forces coming together, as the expanse of the Namib desert meets the might of the South Atlantic Ocean resulting in mystical fog banks that sweep over the coastline.

NAMIBIA SOUTH TOUR DUNES & FLAMINGOES

This tour combines the best of Namibia’s wildlife along with its remarkable geological phenomena. With visits to the world’s oldest desert, The Namib. One of the world’s tallest sand dunes in Sossusvlei, and the world’s largest desert, the Kalahari. This promises to be eye-opening tour of epic proportions.

Then with stops at the Namib-Naukluft Park, Africa’s largest wildlife park, and the Erongo mountains, guests will be able to see a stunning assortment of wild game as well as over 300 varieties of bird species. Highlights include the yellow-billed hornbill, the colourful lilac breasted roller and the crimson boubou. A delight for any genuine ornithologist.

DAY 2

After breakfast, you will head out into the dense bushland of the Etosha National Park to explore the wildlife. One of the greatest game reserves in the world, it offers a diverse collection of wildlife including several lion prides.

After dinner, you can expect to encounter various game emerging from the darkness.

DAY 3

Continuing your exploration through Etosha, you will spend the day in search of the park’s younger residents in the western part of the reserve. It’s here that several rare species such as black rhino and black-faced impala have established a nursery to raise their young.

Flying into Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, you will be met by a local Land Rover representative. From here, you will be driven to the takeover point where you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with your All-New Discovery. After a quick tour briefing, you will drive North where you will spend your first night in a traditional African Lodge.

After meeting your fellow explorers over dinner, you can spend the evening watching wildlife come to drink at the nearby waterhole.

DAY 1

Departing the park, most of the day will be spent on the trails as you head along the infamous Kamdesha route to the Mopane savannah. Renowned for its fine dust roads, the sand particles hang in the air like a morning mist.

Dinner and accommodation will be situated on the banks of the Hoanib River.

DAY 4 DAY 5

After breakfast, you will drive through the challenging Khowarib Canyon on an off-road adventure that will take you along the scenic banks of the Hoanib River. It is here you’ll realise why the All-New Discovery is the perfect choice for this all-terrain escapade.

Evening dinner will be served at another traditional African lodge where you can expect to be joined by a variety of wildlife passing through.

DAY 6

A long and challenging day awaits as you drive through a series of stunning and Martian-like landscapes on your way to Swakopmund. Flanked by towering sand dunes and a powerful South Atlantic surf, it is one of many towns featuring German colonial architecture. A legacy of a century of German occupation.

Your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Swakopmund.

DAY 8

Arriving back in the capital city of Windhoek, you may discover that everything makes a little more sense having uncovered some of its many secrets. A contrast of landscapes, architectural styles, tribes, colours and languages that will illustrate why Namibia isn’t like anywhere else on earth.

After breakfast, you set off for the Namib-Naukluft Park. The largest in Africa at 5 million hectares, you can expect another wildlife extravaganza of leopards, cheetahs, zebra, warthog, springbok and gemsbok.

Dinner and accommodation will be on the outskirts of Windhoek. A farewell party will allow you and your fellow explorers to look back at your special time in this amazing country.

DAY 7

SOUTH TOUR DUNES & FLAMINGOES ITINERARY

DAY 2

After breakfast, you will head to the Erongo Mountains. A wild and extreme landscape that will allow you to fully explore the capabilities of the All-New Discovery. Then it’s off to Phillips Cave and Bull’s Party to see the ancient cave paintings as well as the bizarre and gravity defying rock formations.

DAY 3

After breakfast, a series of mammoth sand dunes will line your path as you head to the picturesque town of Swakopmund. A coastal settlement situated between the desert and the Atlantic Ocean that is filled with German colonial buildings.

Your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Swakopmund.

DAY 1

Departing Swakopmund, you will make your way to the Namib-Naukluft Park. At 5 million hectares, it is the fourth largest park in the world so you can expect to see plenty of wildlife. Some of the highlights include an enormous variety of rare and wild birds, attracted by the numerous fig trees that line the riverbed.

From here you will drive to a traditional African lodge where you will spend the night.

DAY 4 DAY 5

An early morning excursion to Sossuvlei will allow you to scale one of the largest sand dunes in the world, the staggering Dune 7. Surrounded by the skeletal camel-thorn trees that are scattered around the pan, it is an eerily surreal scene that will make you question whether you’re still on earth.

DAY 6

A quick briefing will follow breakfast before you head to Mariental. A small town that serves the surrounding farms and Nama communities. The nearby Hardap Dam is the biggest reservoir in Namibia which attracts many species of birds, including Greater White Pelicans, Fish Eagles, Flamingoes, Goliath Herons, Ospreys, Reed Cormorants and many more.

DAY 8

Arriving back in Windhoek, you will get an opportunity to explore this incredible city a little more with some last-minute shopping. A final farewell as you leave your African dream behind.

Departing the Kalahari region, you will head back to Windhoek. A farewell party will allow you to share your amazing experiences with your fellow guests as well as present you with a final evening to reflect on your incredible adventure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who Operates the Trips? The Land Rover Experience Adventure Travel programme is operated by Agentur für Promotion und Service GmbH (APS) / Land Rover Experience Germany, who are licensed and authorised by Jaguar Land Rover. When you make a booking you will enter into a contract with APS GmbH.

Who does the driving? You do! There will be a Land Rover Experience instructor on hand to provide guidance and support, but these are self-drive itineraries, so you’re behind the wheel in the latest Land Rover vehicles.

I’ve never driven a 4x4 vehicle before or driven off-road, can I still go on the trip? Absolutely. There will be a qualified Land Rover Experience instructor accompanying each trip who will provide expert guidance and reassurance, but each trip is designed for drivers of all abilities.

What vehicle will I be driving? Guests will drive the All-New Land Rover Discovery.

Are the vehicles manual or automatic? All vehicles are equipped with automatic transmission.

What are the driving licence and minimum age requirements? All driving guests must be at least 19 years old and have held a full valid driving licence for at least one year. An International Driving Permit is required.

Do I need to purchase insurance to be able to participate? We recommend a comprehensive travel insurance.

Do I need to have a certain level of physical fitness to take part? To participate in the Driving Experience you should ensure that you do not know of any circumstances which would disqualify you from driving such as chronic back problems (or similar conditions), mental conditions which might impair your ability to drive, eyesight which doesn’t meet the standards for driving, pregnancy or heart problems.

How many guests are in each vehicle? Prices are based on two people sharing a vehicle. On request, a 3rd and 4th person can be booked into the vehicle.

If I am travelling by myself will I have my own vehicle? No - for safety reasons we do not allow anyone to travel alone in a vehicle. Solo travellers will

be paired in the vehicle with another guest or if there is an odd number of guests, one of our instructors will accompany you in the vehicle. You will have your own room throughout the trip.

Are children allowed on the trips? In general the trips are suitable for children over 14 years, but please contact APS for further details and to discuss your individual requirements.

Can I book a whole trip for a private group? Yes, we will gladly facilitate a private tour for group bookings of 10 guests or more. The programme can be tailored and adapted to meet the needs of the group.

Can I bring my own Land Rover on the Adventure? It is not possible to participate with your own vehicle due to insurance reasons.

Do we travel in a convoy? Yes, we will generally travel in convoy using radio communication between vehicles.

What is the maximum group size on each trip? To maintain a more intimate and exclusive experience, the maximum (& minimum) group size on each adventure will be 10 guests (two per vehicle).

What is included in the price of the trip? General inclusions are as follows: driving activities, accommodation, breakfast, lunch & dinner, drinks with meals and airport transfers to/from Windhoek Airport (one fixed transfer arrangement for the whole group). Please refer to your individual tour itinerary for the exact inclusions. Please note that due to the level of driving involved, alcohol is only included with your dinner and will be limited. Soft drinks are included with all meals.

What isn’t included in the price of the trip? Flights, visa fees (if required), vaccinations, travel insurance, tips, all personal expenses (e.g. minibar in the hotel, spa treatments etc.) and any pre or post-trip arrangements that deviate from the tour itinerary.

Is there a specific type of luggage I should bring? We do not make any specific recommendations with regards to the type of luggage - the vehicles can accommodate suitcases as well as travel bags.

Which currency is used in Namibia? The local currency is Namibian Dollar (NAD).

What is the dress code for evenings? Evening dress code is casual.

What language will the trips be delivered in? The instructors/hosts will communicate with the guests in English.

Do I require a visa? Kindly contact your local consulate to check on your specific requirements. Should you require an invitation letter to receive your visa, please get in touch and we will provide you with this.

We would like to extend our trip by a few days, can we do this? Absolutely. APS will be more than happy to help you plan and book extended arrangements before or after your trip. Please see contact details below.

What happens if a trip does not reach its minimum numbers? Will it be cancelled? We endeavour not to cancel any of our departures but in some cases this may be inevitable. We reserve the right to cancel a trip if minimum operating numbers have not been reached 8 weeks before departure. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information.

Are the itineraries and accommodation confirmed? Your itinerary and accommodation are subject to change based on availability.
