Program Overview

Academics

The study abroad experience will begin with a 3-day/2 night overnight trek in one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, where we will swim and do yoga. Next, we will visit Dominical beach for a day of surf lessons, followed by white water rafting along the Savegre River. Next we are off to Quepos to enjoy snorkeling off of a catamaran. The trip will provide an immersive experience in the Central American culture. You do not need to be fluent in Spanish for this course.

EXS 494: Developing and Implementing Exercise Prescriptions for Adventure TravelPED 101: Physical Activity Enhancement for Adventure Travel in Costa RicaPEDL 101: Physical Activity Enhancement for Adventure Travel in Costa Rica Lab

Students will be fairly immersed in the culture. The trip will take place in the South-ern Pacific region of Costa Rica including the Osa Peninsula. We will begin our trip with a guided 3-day/2 night overnight trek beginning in Los Patos which is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. The variety of locations will provide an immer-sive experience in the Central American culture.

Location

The days will be spent trekking through the jungle and exploring the coast. Nights will spent in bunks at the ranger station. We will then travel to La Leona Eco Lodge for swimming and yoga. Next, we transfer to the world-famous Domini-cal beach for a day of surf lessons.
