Advanced Medicine: RFA Cancer Treatment

Radio Frequency Thermal Ablation is the medical procedure where in part the electrical conduction system of the heart, tumor or other dysfunctional tissue is ablated using the heat generated from high frequency alternating current in the range of 350 to 500 Kilohertz.

This treatment is generally conducted in the patient setting using either local anesthetics or conscious sedation anesthesia.

Two important advantages of RF Current are:

It does not stimulate the heart, muscles nor nerves

RFA treatment are done under image guidance like x-ray,CT-Scan or ultra sound by an interventional radiologists, otolaryngologists, gastrointestinal and surgical endoscopists.

Uses to treat tumors in the lung, kidney, liver and bone aswell as other body organs less commonly once diagnosis of tumor is confirmed A needle like RFA probe is placed in the Tumor, the RF passing the probe increases the temperature as shown in the diagram below.

Within Tumor tissues and results in destruction of tumor RFA can be effective with small tumors whether or not there arose with that organ or metastasized and spread to that organ.

We end this paper with the Gospel and Tribute to our Friend who is dying of Kidney and brain Cancer.
