Missouri is a center for advanced manufacturing excel-lence, supported by a cost competitive, pro-business and innovative environment, exceptional talent, exten-sive training programs, access to raw materials, and a globally connected infrastructure.

Missouri is a world leader in aerospace and automotive manufacturing, and exports more than $7.2 billion in advanced manufacturing products to more than 190 countries every year.

Aerospace ManufacturingThe U.S. is the world’s largest aerospace producer, and Missouri has a rich history in aviation, especially mili-tary aviation. From Charles Lindbergh, to the Mercury space program, to the latest in aerospace innovation by Boeing, Missouri has led the way in every aspect of aviation for nearly 100 years.

Advanced Manufacturing in Missouri

Today, more than 14,000 of Missouri’s highly trained workforce builds the F-22, F/A-18, EA-18, F-15 fighter jets at Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security facilities, along with composite parts for the 777X and a huge array of military ordinance. Statewide, Missouri is home to 100 aerospace manufacturing companies.

Automotive ManufacturingAcross the state, Missouri talent drives automotive manufacturing into the future with significant produc-tion from Ford and GM. Missouri’s automotive manu-facturing plants are strategically located on the North American Automotive Alley that stretches from Toronto to Mexico City, and Missouri’s Kansas City area is the second largest automotive trade hub behind Detroit, according to Brookings.

In 2018, Missouri produced more than 776,000 vehicles at the Ford and GM plants, advanced military jets for the US and allied militaries, and much more.

Access to skilled labor means higher productiv-ity, higher quality of product, and higher profits for Missouri companies. With a workforce of more than three million, Missouri has a tremendous resource for growing businesses.

Manufacturing employs more than 263,000 Missourians in nearly 6,500 establishments, making up 9.6% of the state’s total employment (BLS, 2016).

Missouri understands that an educated and trained workforce is essential to success in aerospace manufacturing. As a result, Missouri offers traditional and non-traditional training options for workers and companies in advanced manufacturing with academic institutions statewide granting degrees in engineering related around the state supporting collaboration with industry leaders such as Boeing.

PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS

ONE OF THE BEST TRACK RECORDS IN THE U.S. FOR FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

SALES/USE TAX EXEMPTIONS

Income tax allocationAn important tax advantage for Missouri businesses is the amount of income considered taxable as only income earned in Missouri is taxed. And, in 2020, Missouri’s corporate income tax rate will drop to 4 percent, making us one of the best states in the U.S.

In addition, it is important to note that Missouri has not adopted worldwide or nationwide unitary tax assess-ment in computing multinational corporate income tax liability.

Tax exemptions for manufacturersManufacturers locating in Missouri enjoy numerous tax advantages, including:• Sales/use tax exemption on machinery and

equipment used to establish a new or expand an existing facility
