• Initial scoping – questionnaire and event
Aspiration
• To build a quality improvement
programme that
– is relevant to UK NHS
– accessible to health professionals
– raises standards of practice
– develops those who will lead
– starts with those who teach
AIQS and the Improvement Faculty
• To develop:
– Expertise in Quality Improvement and Safety
– New improvement knowledge for use within healthcare
by drawing together different approaches, theories and
experiences through delivery within the workplace
– Capacity and capability, supporting particularly the
Senior Fellow role
• Demonstrate, develop and test a range of learning formats
and techniques that participants can use to deliver
improvement learning activities

Apply improvement knowledge (theoretical
and practical) for the realization of improved
safety and quality

Submission of portfolio of evidence and viva
discussion
Theme 2-
Improvement Tutor
Learning Outcome:
Convey the complexities of managing
improvement activities using a range of
active learning methods
Assessment:
We will be using a structured peer review
process to explore the complexities of
improvement activities
Theme 3-
Improvement Leadership
Learning Outcome:
Extend the reach of your improvement activities within
and beyond your own workplace
Assessment:
You will be developing an annotated visual representation
relating to the influence of your improvement activities
Plus a Dissemination activity e.g. paper submission; IHI
conference workshop; national engagement
The Learning Agreement
• Prior to the first residential consider
the questions in your support booklet
• During the first residential share your
responses with other AIQS
participants
• From your responses you will develop
a learning action plan and add this to
your portfolio
• Throughout the programme these
questions and responses will be
returned to as triggers for discussion
and reference points to ascertain
progression
Enrolment• Name, Date of Birth, Email Address and Residency
• This information enables us to start the enrolment process
• You will then receive an email to invite you to enrol online, the email
will give a link to enrol and instructions on how to proceed. Your
student number and password will also be given in the email.
• Only when the students are fully enrolled and confirmed will they be a
student at the University of Derby and able to access materials
