Words from Senior Pastor

1. The Couple’s Boxing Ring is for Genuine and Sincere Communication of Feelings The Couple’s Boxing Ring is for the communication of genuine and sincere feelings. Spouses that enter the boxing ring are open to one another and allow each other to know the feeling of each other. This is not the time to settle the issues or to determine who’s right and wrong. Instead, let God’s words be the foundation and mutual trust be the needed protection.

2. The Couple’s Boxing Ring is for Bearing Responsibilities and Restor-ing Relationships (Gen. 3:7, Luke 22:39-44) Many brothers are reluctant to enter the boxing ring because they do not know how to deal with the problems. The Couple’s Boxing Ring is for bearing responsibilities and restoring relationships.

3. The 8 Rules for the Couple’s Boxing Ring A) Treat Everyone with Equality; Before Entering the Ring, Robes off

and Play by the Rules (Gen. 1:26-27, Phi. 2:5-8) When spouses are in the boxing ring, do not use our professional knowledge to attack our spouse because it will not do any good. We need to emulate Jesus to lay down ourselves to achieve effective communication with our spouse

B) Without Anger or Fear; Do not Overturn, Tear Down or Back Down from the Ring (Jam. 1:20, 1 Joh. 4:18) Some husbands will use anger to conceal their fears. During such time, the wife needs to play the “blue” role (empathy) to under-stand and accept the husband and help him face his fear in the right way.

C) True Feelings, True Communication; Be Open and Honest in shar-ing Your Feelings and Innermost Thoughts (Gen. 2:25, Eph. 5:28-30) Spouses that enter the boxing ring must desire true communication, be ready to express true feelings and innermost thoughts. Men are not generally very in touch with their feelings to express them, but women are good in sharing their feelings. There is a difference be-tween male and female and hence spouses need to communicate well and accept each other.

D) Do Not Settle Scores with the Past; refrain from Personal Attacks, Dig Up not Past Quarrels, Be Gracious. In the Couple’s boxing ring, do not make personal attacks or dig up past quarrels. Be gracious. If the problem has been resolved and apology has been made, let it go and be buried. However if the hurtful feeling is still prevailing, it means that the problem remains unresolved and there are feelings yet to be fully released. The spouse should give the other party a chance to share again. Once it is resolved, do not hang on to it anymore.

E) It’s Not About Who Is Right or Wrong; Involving No third Parties, Aim Not at Knocking Down Your Opponent (Gen. 2:17) Do not contend on who’s right or wrong in the boxing ring. Accept and embrace each other’s feeling towards resolving the problem.

F) Treat Each Other with Kindness, Be Merciful : a break if called, let go and stop (Eph. 4:32) Once times out, ring the bell and halt the battle.

G) Seek Help from the Referee Immediately if Unable to Settle or Carry On (Eze. 34:22-23) If the problem cannot be settled, stop immediately and seek help from referee (spiritual leaders).

H) Before Sunset or Bedtime, Cease Fire and Rest Well (Eph. 4:26) Lastly, reconcile and come back to the starting point of love. Tell each other, “ I am not here to harm you, I love you!” Rest is ready only after proper restoration.■ [This sermon message was delivered on September 8, 2019. Edited by Sec. of editors]

Tree of Life Spousal Relationship II

Essence of Sunday Sermon

◎Rev. Ezekiel Chong, Pr. Charlotte Tsen We have just returned yester-

day from attending the Taipei

BOL 65th Anniversary celebra-

tions. The whole celebration had

touched me in many ways.

There are now in record 530

churches within the Bread Of

Life family, spread over five con-

tinents, in 45 nations. Just over

the last five years, some 186 new churches had been planted. It was

announced during the above conference that in the next 30 years, if

each existing BOL church plants 10 new daughter churches, the BOL

Church family would have grown to a family with 5,000 churches. Only

just last year, Rev. Joshua of our mother church had received a revela-

tion from God the 611 vision of planting Trees of Life everywhere. The

611 vision is foreseen to be

fulfilled in 52 years. Therefore

both our Grandma and Mother

Church are firmly geared to

actively plant Trees of Life

everywhere. We are about to

enter the 5780, which will

prove to be a new season. The

coming decade carries the

anointing of the mouth. Let us

believe that whatever we choose to declare with our mouths shall

come to pass speedily!

Like what Pr. Liu Tong said, the mission work of the past versus the

present are totally different. It can be likened to a football match, very

relax in the first 2 minutes, because both sides are watching and figur-

ing out each side’s game strategies. But this will change in the last 2

minutes of the game, where attitudes must be changed, the time has

come to catch up, to fight for control of the ball, to pass on the ball and

to score. Accordingly in the coming ten years, the Church must change

its attitude and strategy in the area of Gospel evangelism.

It is our fervent prayer that more people with willing hearts to serve

and strong calling will arise, able to experience God’s healing, willing to

let go and let down, be built up and equipped. Yet this is not to be lim-

ited to ministry, rather more in spousal relationship, family relation-

ship, and harmonious relationships in the Body of Christ. This will give

rise to a wholesome life, to become a family that can be the healthy

cover in the end time, whilst constituting a great army equipped for the

work of the Gospel evangelism, prayer and worship, healing and deliv-

erance!■

MG12 Good Shepherd’s Tips

Walking in the Atmosphere of Love and Trust

He who is in authority should draw close with brothers and sisters, give

them some time and space, have chats, communication, listen to them,

understand them, and let his thoughts be known to them. By doing this,

it breaks the ice between them. In the process of shepherding, cell

member will learn how to make decision, and draw closer to cell leader,

trust him and feel the intimacy; this is the easy way for cell member to

follow the cell leader. The authority and his disciples and/or cell mem-

bers must get to know one another, build up the relationship, the mu-

tual trust and understanding. At such, there will be close relationship, if

not, it is easy to cause doubt and fear, and distant from one another;

and the authority will cause fearful feeling in the subordinates. How-

ever, each sheep (disciple, cell member) has its own choice. Leaders

shouldn’t hold fast to cell members, force it through their leadership.

This is no use. Even God will not force us, what can we do?

Sometimes subordinates might misunderstand the words of leaders.

The words of a leader is very important, they can build life or destroy it.

The higher the authority, the greater is the influence. So communica-

tion requires even more love and tolerance. Those who are under a

leadership must apply trust when listening, try to understand and to

communicate; this will cause good communication; and walking in mu-

tual love and trust. ■
