Thursday, May 30, 2019 Dear Friends in Christ, He said to them, “This is what is written: the Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and a change of heart and life for the forgiveness of sins must be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. Look, I’m sending to you what my Father promised, but you are to stay in the city until you have been furnished with heavenly power.” He led them out as far as Bethany, where he lifted his hands and blessed them. As he blessed them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. They worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem overwhelmed with joy. And they were continuously in the temple praising God. - Luke 24:46-53 Greetings! Scripture tells us of this moment in time where Jesus was taken up out of human sight. The resurrected Jesus appeared to the disciples over a period of forty days, speaking about God’s kingdom before he ascended. Today, May 30, we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, marked on our calendars as the fortieth day after Easter. May we worship and celebrate with joy, this day and all things in it. We continue to have a need for quality vintage and collectible items that can be sold at amarket value greater than a garage sale price. Fine jewelry, collectibles and antiqueitems in all categories are very desirable as are many unusual ‘one of a kind’ itemsdonors might have in their possession. ‘Age’ is the most important aspect for itemsdonated. Antique/vintage items sell the best.

Donated items are sold online through eBay and through local consignment shop WhiteLion Treasures, located in the heart of Czech Village.

SPRINT Seeking Snack Donation for the SummerDonations can be dropped off at the church office (label “For SPRINT”). Donations ofhealthy snacks such as granola bars, apples or animal crackers. You’re invited to come playwith clay and create a peacebell with a lasting prayer forpeace in our world. This

multicultural event is open to all ages and is an opportunity provided free of charge to St.Paul’s by the Iowa Ceramic Center & Glass Studio. Representatives from the CeramicCenter will lead us in this fun adventure with clay. We’ll make new friends as we eachcreate a clay bell that will become part of a larger work to be displayed at St. Paul’s.Later, we’ll take our bells home to keep.

Neighborhood Meal & Enrichment ProgramBegins Monday, June 10We need lots of volunteers! Free meals are served to anyone who is hungry Mondaythrough Friday from 12:00-1:00 pm. Neighborhood Meals begin the Monday after schoolis out each summer and end the Friday before school begins in the fall. There are manyprograms which provide meals to children during the summer, but NMEP provides mealsto families, or singles too. Transform 2019, June 24-28Help local nonprofit Matthew 25 transform homes and lives during their 4th AnnualTransform Week.
