Background Screening: Once you train, you may be required to do a background check. If so, you must electronically sign an authorization to permit the screening. If finger printing is required, arrange for it at a location near you. Your local administrator can help you.

Screening + Training success=

To protect our children the SDA church must have a pro-active program in place

which requires background checks of all who work with children.

Shield the Vulnerable (STV) works directly with Employment Screening

Resources (ESR) , a national organization accredited by the National Association

of Background Screeners that processes criminal background screenings for

adults.

Shield the Vulnerable provides on-line education for all who work with children.

This training is interactive, easy and informative.

Shield the Vulnerable provides state-specific training (including Bermuda,

Canada and Guam).

Local conferences will manage oversight and volunteeer clearance reviews.

How It Works

Self-Registration1Volunteers, employees, and students log in and register at Shield the Vulnerable (STV) for online training and background screening for employees and volunteers.- www.shieldthevulnerable.com

Online Training2Once users complete the registration, they take the online training. It is self-paced and users can leave and return to the course to complete it.

Background Screening3Once users complete the training, the program automatically encrypts and sends the user information to ESR, which conducts the background screening.

Results & Reports4The background screening results are confidentially reviewed by the Union/Conference and summary reports of the training and background screening are available to selected administrator.

Portability5The record of eligibility and training is maintained by STV on a secure data base which can be verified for service throughout the North American Division. Recurrent background screening eligibility and training will be completed every three years.
