Profession: Sarah is a licensed clinical social worker at a teen parenting and pregnancy program. She has a passion for working with adolescents.

Interests: Sarah loves soccer, hiking and camping.

What is it?

The Young Adult Learning Series is a six-session program that

includes “extras” such as special Shabbat events. In each session,

you’ll be introduced to timeless perspectives on selected topics.

You’ll enjoy discussions with dynamic presenters and meet lots

of other thoughtful participants.

Who is it for?

The Young Adult Learning Series is for adults in their 20s and 30s.

Why should you take it?

You’ll have the opportunity to:

Parenting Through a Jewish Lens is a 10-week program that

brings together caring parents, expert facilitators and

core ideas. Energetic and memorable conversations lead

to a greater understanding of your vital role as parent.

Who is it for?

It’s for any parent interested in learning how timeless

values can strengthen their family. You don’t have

to be Jewish or belong to a synagogue to enjoy the

benefits of the program.

Why should you take it?

You’ll have the opportunity to learn from highly

skilled instructors who are parents themselves. They

understand your interests and concerns and know

how to lead meaningful discussions in a warm and

welcoming way. You’ll also meet, and get to know,

other parents. You'll discover that you’re not alone

on your parenting journey.

Where is it? The program is offered at synagogues and private homes throughout the Greater Boston area.

Who will watch my kids? Free on-site babysitting is available for daytime classes.

Professions: Bryan is a financial analyst and Adele is a cellist.

Interests: Adele likes anything having to do with music, art and nature. Bryan loves traveling and learning new languages.

Professions: Liz divides her time between being at home with her two girls and working part time as an event planner for a non-profit organization. Keith is a software developer, specializing in Internet security. He holds several patents related to keeping kids safe online.

Interests: Keith and Liz are swing dancers. In fact, that’s how they met. Now that they have kids, the family spends as much time as possible at the beach.

Professions: Both Sion and Gordon work in the medical field. Sion studies adolescent health issues at Children’s Hospital. Gordon works in medical imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Interests: The entire Harris family is taking part in an unusual activity — building a new house. When they can step away for a minute, the family enjoys cheering for Gordon, who plays in an over-40 soccer league.

What is it?

Parenting Your Teen is an eight-session program that draws on Jewish

sources of wisdom that can help parents appreciate their teens’

uniqueness and embrace their own changing role as their children

journey to adulthood.

Who is it for?

Parents of all backgrounds who seek ideas, inspiration

and community.

Why should you take it?

You’ll be guided by a skilled facilitator who’ll engage you in thoughtful

discussion and help you gain practical insights into parenting your

teen. You’ll also meet, and get to know, other parents.

Where is it? The program is offered at synagogues throughout Greater Boston.

Parenting Your Teen… Through a Jewish Lens

Professions: Dave works in the software industry and Amy is a CFO for a local staffing agency.

Interests: Dave and Amy enjoy spending time with their kids doing after school and evening activities. Dave is also very involved with Temple Beth Elohim, and plays softball with the synagogue’s team. Amy likes to play tennis, scrapbook and watch sports.

What is it?

Me’ah is an in-depth program that offers adult learners a strong

foundation in Jewish culture and civilization. The program includes

100 hours of class time and features outstanding faculty from the

Greater Boston academic community.

Who is it for?

Me’ah is designed for adults of all backgrounds who want to learn more

about Jewish religion and culture. It’s for anyone who is interested in

learning as much about Jewish life as they know about Western culture.

Why should you take it?

During the program, you’ll acquire a framework that you can build

upon to grow into a literate student of Judaism. You’ll also gain a

deeper understanding of the connections among contemporary Jewish

life, historic events and Jewish traditions.

Where is it? Me’ah is offered at synagogues throughout Greater Boston.

Interests: Every year, the couple spends at least one vacation touring in their ’66 Rambler convertible. Recently their Rambler won a 3rd place prize from the American Motors Ramblers Club.
