What is Behavioral Health?Clinical Behavioral Health is the school’s largest specialization and includes a broad range of courses, field placement opportunities and career paths. Students will develop competencies in evidence-based practices in behavioral health as well as knowledge of current and emerging policies that impact the behavioral health of communities within a social justice perspective. Students will be trained on core mental health approaches common in social work including, cognitive-behavioral treatments, interpersonal therapies, motivational interviewing, and other techniques. In addition, students will gain knowledge in working with children, adolescents and adults using individual, group and family interventions.

USG is a vibrant campus serving more that 4,000 students. Services include an academic library, bookstore, cafe, counseling center, academic support, student clubs and more. MSW students at USG will benefit from small, high quality classes taught by our highly regarded Social Work Faculty. Diverse field placement opportunities for the MSW program are conveniently available in the DC Metropolitan area, including Montgomery, Prince George’s and all central Maryland counties.
