The successful candidate must meet one of the following criteria: 1. Any Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience, OR 2. Any Associate degree and six years of experience, OR 3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR 4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2. (Applicants applying on the basis of equivalency must complete all Equivalency questions on their application in addition to all other required materials).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of professional expertise on the basis of: • Bachelor’s degree in administration of justice, criminal justice, criminology, law enforcement, police science or public administration, with a minimum of 24 semester units of coursework in criminal/administration of justice, from an accredited college or university; Law degrees (LL.B, LL.M, J.D. and S.J.D.) are NOT considered equivalent to the above degrees. • A Master’s Degree in Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Education, Criminology, Law, Public Administration (with an emphasis in criminal justice) from an accredited university • Ability to coordinate and enhance an Administration of Justice academic program, including curriculum development and management, as well as the ability to coordinate, advise, and mentor students in both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities both on and off campus • Experience and ability to teach a broad range of Administration of Justice courses utilizing current methodologies for both in-person and distance education courses. • Knowledge of, and the ability to use and integrate, current digital technology during course delivery, including Learning • Management Systems (LMS), specifically Canvas. • Previous experience developing and teaching distance education courses, specifically online. • Previous experience working as an advisor/mentor/coach for a student club/organization. • Current certification, or the ability to obtain certification, as a training coordinator and/or instructor from the CA Commission on Peace

• Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) • Previous experience working with, and/or leading, a decision-making group/committee. • Understanding of and ability to use data to inform workplace planning and decisions.

• Current membership, or the ability to obtain membership, in the American Criminal Justice Association – Lambda Alpha Epsilon.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruct Administration of Justice classes. Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive curriculum in Administration of Justice. Assignment may include evening and/or weekend classes. Assignment may include forming and working with an advisory group; accompanying students to all ACJA-LAE National competitions; and serving as Faculty Advisor to the XTE student organization; recruitment of students to the program; and acting as a liaison to the community. Participate in general faculty functions and obligations related to the educational program, in-service programs, and professional development.

PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE: • A minimum of five (5) years of full-time paid professional work experience in a public, general service, law enforcement agency at the federal, state, and/or local level. TEACHING EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of two (2) years (full or part-time) successful teaching and/or training experience in criminal justice or a closely related area at the post-secondary level, which may be concurrent with required Professional Work Experience. • Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
