With this theme in mind, CODE and adidas teamed up for a collaboration which grew into a small scale global production. Ten photographers worldwide were asked to curate ten individuals which truly embody the notion of ‘originality’. The result is a celebration of urban style at its most diverse. STOCKHOLMVANESSA FALK (BLOGGER/MODEL/SOCIALITE)

Jens Andersson on Vanessa Falk: I take a lot of pictures, mostly involving people. Every once in a while you experience someone with real star quality. Vanessa is just such a person. That goes with her look, background, and talent. Though she is doing a little bit of everything nowadays, her main focus has always been her music career. With an upcoming record release I think she will leave her mark in 2010. And yeah, did I mention she’s a really nice person and easy to work with?

BEIJINGKAKA (MODEL)

Madi Ju on Kaka: Kaka is a very tiny young model, but she was chosen to be modeling for many magazines among those tall models. She is a Uygur and has very strong personality. Her face is good for many different characters, and she just acted in a short lm, which is amazing. Though she is very young, I feel she’s very powerful and I’ve begun to shoot her a lot.

PARIS OILVIER MULIN (STYLIST)

Albrecht Gerlach on Olivier Mulin:For me Olivier Mulin is one of a kind. He is an artist and an original from Paris, who is also a really nice guy. Olivier has a great feeling for style as you can see on the image, where he styled himself. He made the out t completely his own. Because of this ability, to give identity to clothes, I wanted to shoot him.

NEW YORKCRAIG DUFFNEY (ILLUSTRATOR SCULPTOR)

Kareem Black on Craig Duffney: Craig is a downtown New York City kid, but he is also the EVP/ Design Director at BBDO. Apart from his commercial work he is an amazing illustrator and sculptor. We went together to Haiti under two charities; Healing Haiti and Print for Change. We went there for a week to help and make art. The money we make with the art we sell goes directly back to the charities and to the Haitian people. I loved to shoot Craig with his awesome French Bulldog named Cash. Cash is from the Czech Republic. You can check out Craig’s team’s work on his website.

SYDNEYKRIS MOYES (VIDEO DIRECTOR) Ben Sullivan on Kris Moyes:I choose Kris Moyes since he uses various mediums (motion, still images) in different ways to create unique works. Like for instance the ‘You Belong’ video ’ for Hercules and Love affair. Be it commercial or non commercial work, Kris always has his own distinct style and tries to nd new ways to do things. I’m really looking forward to seeing his new short lm, which looks pretty amazing from the stills I’ve seen so far.

COPENHAGENKASPER BJØRKE (MUSICIAN)

Lis Timm about Kasper Bjørke: This rather psychedelic and talented man has made a big impact on the Danish and international music scene. Next to his musical performances as a DJ, producer, singer and remix artist, Kasper is very active in the culture and art scene. He just released ‘Standing on Top of Utopia’. Lovely tunes with a love for originality and density. In my opinion, Kasper is a friendly, happy soul, who stands out in a respected, cool way. And the welcome you get as a foreigner in Copenhagen is a hug, a cold Tuborg, and a ticket to his personal nightlife!

AMSTERDAMSIMON AMON (MUSICIAN)

Cindy Heijnen on Simon Amon:Strong individuals inspire me. The sound of Simon Amon’s New Soul music is authentic and different. It is a mixture of hip hop, R&B, and funk, music styles with a soul. Simon Amon also performs with a band named Benjamin ‘Steamin’ Diggins. With an EP on the way I am completely sure his sound will be heard in 2010.

BRUSSELS UTO&PIA (CREATIVE DUO/JEWELRY DESIGNERS)

Tine Claerhout on UTO&PIA:Alice de Wrangel and Byram make up the creative duo behind the name UTO&PIA. She is a designer of jewelry; he is an artist who often works with Plexiglass. Together they make original jewelry that stands out in the Belgium fashion and art industry. I have known them both separately for a couple of years now, and know they are strong, creative personalities with great energy.

BERLIN SCREAMCLUB (CREATIVE MUSICAL DUO)

Christian Knorr on Screamclub: The winning enthusiasm of Cindy and Sarah is worth mentioning. Climbing up on a Berlin rooftop in below-zero temperatures was really fun to them. They told me that they’ve been best friends since an eternity and that growing up in this particular small town, Olympia, Washington, was important to them, as it was a very creative, liberal and musical inspiration for their current career.

MONTREALMELISSA GAGNE (WRITER/MUSICIAN/MOVIE PRODUCER)

John Londono on Melissa: Melissa Gagne always impresses me with the way she is in tune with her creative vibes: she’s constantly fed by her surroundings. It is very pleasant to witness this connection she has and the positivism that ows through her. Above all, she’s a cute child, hungry for ideas, arts, music, culture and love. Therefore she studies literature and philosophy, but she’s also involved in music and art projects on her own. I see her as a re ection of Einstein’s thoughts on what a human being should be: a free spirit, a maker, a sensitive person who is able to shape beauty and sublime…
