President’s ReportHi Everyone,
Well, it’s only two months until our Christmas Show but before then we still have two other great shows. On November 27th, our Club will be awarding a Junior Under 16, with another ‘Len Wakefield Award’ Trophy at the Gawler Stampede. The Award is judged and presented at the Champion of Champions Section of the Stampede. We, our Club, have been giving this Award for over fifteen years now, to encourage young and up and coming artists - this ensures that their talent continues. Many have gone on to bigger and better things!
There is also, (along with the trophy), a sum of money paid to the recipient by way of, by either part of their music lessons, or, if they are purchasing musical equipment, part of the cost is covered. Our Club feels this is a very important award as without our young ones to keep country going, we could lose country music and our Club.
Just a quick mention that Evonne will be needing donations for Christmas hampers for the December show. Non-perishables would be preferred. I must also mention a very big thank you to all who donate to our regular raffles. That also is much appreciated.
Well, bye for now, thank God for country music.

LORRAINE’S ROUND-UP - AugustWell here we are another AGM. It was very pleasing to see a big attendance. A new face on the committee is Nannette Mayne, welcome to you Nannette.New secretary Robert Sexton moved up from the committee, thanks Robert for taking on the job. We still need one more person. How about you?Band of the month Carole Sturtzel and Wild Oats always have a great day. My niece Heather Thiele who has been doing shows with her sang a couple of songs. I’m trying to get Heather more motivated and to come to the club, but she works full time, looks after a granddaughter and most of all loves to go walking and running with her friends. I’ll keep trying. Our special guest was Wayne Nuku and he was great. He used Carole’s band instead of backing tapes. All enjoyed his performance.A lady, Susan Crowe from New Zealand, here on holidays sang a couple of songs. She had a throat virus, but still did really well. Next year she will be back for our March
meeting. Another tourist, Dave Morrissey from Western Australia also performed for us. David plays guitar, saxophone, harmonica and sings. It’s pleasing to have these people come to our Club.It was a great day. We gave Carole the Club Industry Award for her contribution to Country Music and Josie Evans was awarded our Merit Award and made a Life Member. Congratulations to both ladies.Bye for nowLorraine
Lorraine with yet another cow!

LORRAINE’S ROUND-UP - SeptemberI always like September (Spring time, Adelaide Show time) with its better weather. I believe it makes living better, happier and brighter, makes you feel like jumping out of your skin. Oh well, on with the show.
Band of the Month the one and only Bernie and the Bandits make you feel happy with their style of music. Guest for the day, Dave Pearce from Kadina first time at the club had a throat virus, but did very well. He even yodelled for us - hope to see him again at the club. Along came Peter Tomlinson who always sings up some great country songs. Ramona Paterson also sang a few songs.
Once again a great day of fun and music showcasing another style of dancing was Jeff Seidell’s square dancers from the ‘Wild Frontier Square Dance Club Inc.’ They did two sets of dancing. I was so proud of our members
for joining in. He brought back memories for me when Len and I were on the Roger Cardwell Country Show on television.
At the start of the day Rob Smith was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation ‘In recognition of your dedicated and valued contribution to the Club’.
On the day Robert McMahon turned 70. Robert works a lot for the Club, happy birthday and thank you.
Also on the day Frankie Baker generously donated a new vacuum cleaner to the Club, thanks Frankie.
A number of our members are facing serious health challenges. Get well soon, Rob Smith, Mary Myers and Gary Trenerry.

October Show -
Top Dead Centre was formed in 2008 and is based in The Barossa Valley. A compact four piece band it comprises
of Guitar, Piano, Bass and Drums with outstanding country harmonies provided by three fantastic vocalists.
TDC plays a huge variety of music from classic country to modern country and rock and roll and as needed classic pub rock.
David Gebert- an award winning vocalist and song writer provides lead vocals and outstanding harmonies as well as bass guitar for the band.
Steve Gregory ranks up there as one of the best county guitarists in South Australia and demonstrates picking that will blow you away as well as a genuine deep country voice that lends itself to beautiful harmonies.
Victoria Von Bertouch adds a touch of class to the band and has a voice that lends itself to the classic vocal styles such as that sung by, Suzie Quatro and Bonnie Rait. Victoria also adds masses of colour with some fantastic keyboard sounds.
Greg ‘ Short Wheelbase’ Smallwood provides the backbone of the band on drum kit. As one of Australia’s most accomplished country drummers he adds a dimension to the band rarely heard in country bands in South Australia.
Top Dead Centre is SA’s Premium Country Rock Band and is a mixture of Country, Rock, Jazz, Bluegrass and Rockabilly. They provide all of their own professional sound and lighting equipment and with professional musicians at the core of this band it has a sound that is big, fresh and gets the audience up and going. The innovative arrangements played will leave audiences saying ‘WOW’. You won’t be disappointed

The following words were in a letter received recently:-
Dear Dianne,
It is with sincere thanks and much appreciation that I write to your club committee and members. We have been overwhelmed at the outpouring of sympathy and love in the recent sudden passing of Kevin, my husband and father and grandfather to our family.Kevin really had many great times at the Country Music events and clubs and enjoyed the company of everyone. I know that they also appreciated Kevin for his support and honest generosity. He was our best fan of our music and we will miss him dearly.I would appreciate it if you would convey to your members, on behalf of all of the family, either through your newsletter or verbally how much we have appreciated their love and comfort at this sad time in our lives. We know that our music will go on and it will continue to touch peoples’ hearts as we live to remember all the precious memories that we cherish.
We hope to catch up soon. Thank you again,Love from,(signed)Christine SherrahSteven, Michelle, Claire and Amy SherrahTracy, Anthony, Kane and Brooke Stewart
