Decoding cable

Decoding the ECUOn some car models it is necessary to decode the car’s eCu (engine control unit) before you can tune the car with your PPC device.

The decoding cable is used to perform this decoding. you only have to perform the decoding once. after you have decoded the eCu you shall synchronize the PPC via the internet. after this, you will be able to tune you car according to the instructions in the ordinary PPC manual.

Connect the yellow connector to the car’s ECU.

Connect the red connector to the car’s diagnostic connector.

Connect the OBDII cable to this black connector.

1. When “identifying the car”, connect the OBDII cable to the diagnostic connector.

2. When decoding the ECU, connect the OBDII cable to the decoding cable.

3. When the decoding is fi nished and the car is to be tuned, connect the OBDII cable to the diagnostic connector.

PPC device

Identify car

Connect PPC to the car’s diagnostic connector with the OBDii cable. The diagnostic connector is located in the dash board under the steering wheel. Turn the ignition on.

Select “identify car” and press enter.

Wait until the progress bar reaches 100%. Then you will be told to either:a) Connect the decoding cable (then proceed in this manual).b) Synchronize* PPC before you can connect the decoding cable. after synchronizing PPC you shall connect PPC to the car and perform “identify car” once again.

Disconnect PPC from the diagnostic connector. Turn the ignition off .

* How to synchronize PPC via the Internet is described in the ordinary PPC manual on page 10-13.

Connect the decoding cable to the car’s ECU and diagnostic connector

The six plastic plugs are disassembled by fi rst pulling up the head of the plug. Then you pull up the whole plug from the hole.

Pull out these plastic plugs in order to get to the car’s eCu, which is located under the plastic cover beneath the windscreen.

Disassemble the cover of the car battery by pressing the two hooks on the side.

now you can lift up the whole front of the plastic cover beneath the windscreen. The eCu is located under this plastic cover.

Push the button under the red lock (on the left contact piece). Then turn up the red lock.

Pull out the whole contact piece from the eCu.

Connect the decoding cable to the eCu. use the yellow end here.

Then connect the red end of the decoding cable to the car’s diagnostic connector.

The car’s diagnostic connector is located in the dash board under the steering wheel.

Then connect the ordinary OBDii cable and the PPC device to the decoding cable.

This is how the PPC menu looks:

Turn the ignition off, if it is not already turned off. Press enter to start the reading.

Do not disconnect the PPC from the car during the reading.

Once the reading has started you can see a progress bar and a clock.

When the progress bar has reached 100%, the reading is finished.

Disconnect the PPC and the decoding cable from the car. Then synchronize the PPC.

Disconnect the PPC device, OBDii cable and the decoding cable from the car.

reconnect the contact piece to the eCu and turn the red lock back.

When dropping back the plastic cover, make sure it is correctly fi tted to the foam rubber sealing. you might need to bend the foam rubber a bit to make the cover fall in place.

Disconnect the PPC and the decoding cable from the car

reinstall the cover of the car battery.

reinstall all the plastic plugs. First, push the bottom part of the plug through the hole, then press down the head of the plug to lock it.

Synchronize PPCSynchronize PPC via the internet. This procedure is described in the ordinary PPC manual on page 10-13. When you have synchronized PPC the decoding fi nished.

Read the PPC manual before tuning your caryou can now use your PPC device to tune your car. Follow the instructions in the ordinary PPC manual carefully.
