YouTube was created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, three former employees of PayPal in February 2005, which was based in San Bruno California.

YouTube started as a online dating site called “Tune in Hook UP”

The reason the founders decided to rethink there idea was base on the fact that Karim was unable to find footage of Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction, as well as both Hurley and Chen were unable to share a dinner party video through email due to attachment limitations.

The founders registered the name “YouTube” on February 14, 2055, causing a problem with entertainment site “utube.”

The first video to be uploaded was shot by Yakov Lapitsky at the San Diego Zoo. It showed co-founder Jawed Karim in front of the elephant enclosure going on about long trunks.

Since it was uploaded on April 23, 2005 it has had 4,282,497 views.

Pros: Free and easy to use, Allows your friends and family to see videos without sending them individually, password protected so you have control over who views your video, can search for videos on almost anything you want to see or need to know, good way to send a speech to an instructor, videos can be up to about 15 minutes long

Cons: If you don’t know exact name of video, you may have to search thru a lot of videos to find what you are looking for, explicit video content, kids at any age can access videos posted here, may have some copyright infringement, if you set no password, anyone can view your content

Step 1Go to www.youtube.com, and find the video you wish to embed in your PowerPoint.

1. Once you find the video, click SHARE.

2. Click EMBED.

3. Check the box : USE OLD EMBED CODE

4. COPY the embed code.

Step 2On the PowerPoint presentation, click on the INSERT tab.

2. You will see a drop-down menu, clickVEDIO FROM WEB SITE…

1. A INSERT VIDEO FROM ONLINE VIDEO SITE dialog box will appear.

2. PASTE the embed code.

3. Click INSERT

To make sure that you have embedded the video correctly; Select the slide that you like the video to be

placed in Click on the insert tab Select the video icon Choose the video file that you would like to

embed in the PowerPoint slide.

Format-There are many different types of formats that videos come in, like ASF,AVI, MPG OR WMV Make sure that your computer system will

support media and video Linking-When linking a video to a PowerPoint

presentation, it never becomes part of the presentation. Make sure that the PowerPoint presentation

and the video that is to be embedded are in the same folder
