HAYQUEMOVERSE GRANT

The HayQueMoverse Grant will grant $200 to each student. To qualify for the HayQueMoverse Grant, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

1. Start a program of study at IBC in August 2016, 2. Be a new student at IBC (i.e., first time enrolling at IBC), 3. Completed and submitted all documents required for admission, 4. Completed FAFSA and submitted any documents requested by the Financial Aid Office, 5. Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of zero for the award year in which the funds will

be granted, 6. Demonstrate financial need, 7. Graduate from high school with a GPA of 2.2 or higher, 8. Not be in default, or have an overpayment debt with the federal government, and 9. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Students applying for any financial aid administered by IBC are required to report any additional external financial aid they expect for financing their studies (Veterans, Vocational Rehabilitation, AmeriCorps, etc.) Applications are available at the Financial Aid Office. Completed applications must be submitted to the Director of Financial Aid. Applications will be evaluated by a Committee consisting of the President, Corporate Vice President of Finance, and Corporate Vice President of Human Resources in the order they are received so IBC encourages applying early. Students awarded the HayQueMoverseExtra Grant will not be eligible to also receive HayQueMoverse Grant IBC will disburse the amount awarded in equal parts at the end of each payment period. The student must have met the standards of satisfactory academic progress in order to receive the disbursement. IBC has allocated $600,000 to the HayQueMoverse Grant.

In the curricular schedule of the Handyman program of 36 credits, only indicates the 720 contact hours of each course. In addition of the contact hours, there are 180 study hours that the student will perform outside of class hours with the purpose of preparing for the content of the class or to apply these. MATE 1220 Applied Mathematics 3 credits

(Pre-requisites: None) This course of mathematical applied it includes two parts. In first it is examined the basic operations of mathematical such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimal and fractions. In second part is emphasized in: the application of the basic concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, the graphs and solution of numerical problems applied to the technology. SEGU 1042 Occupational Safety 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: none) This course emphasizes the fundamental concepts related to safety and health in the industrial, manufacturing, and servicing industries. Prevention and remedial measures to face accidents caused by electric shocks, and toxic gases inhalations are discussed. The regulation of the Department of Labor, OSHA and PR OSHA applicable to these industries is also covered.

HAND 1020 Materials, Equipment and Tools Handling 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: none) This course is designed to show students the appropriate use and handling of materials, equipment and tools related to the industry of electricity, plumbing and building according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws and regulations and others from public agencies and private teams. In addition, the student can differentiate the use of all instruments and equipment related to their technical career.

HAND 1031 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: none)

This course addresses the theoretical principles that involve the development of skills to select and

recommend equipment for household refrigeration and air conditioning. We discuss how to make

preliminary analysis or evaluation of refrigeration units in order to refer to a licensed technician to

determine any diagnosis, repair or installation in various cooling systems and household air conditioners.

The Handyman program graduate will be able to request the expert electrician apprentice license in order

to work under the direct supervision of a certified expert electrician, helping and aiding in this profession

and complying with Act No. 115 of June 2, 1976, as amended.

PLOM 1007 Maintenance / Repairs Sanitary Systems 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: none) During this course, the students practice the installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of pluvial

and sanitary systems using the occupational standard procedure and observing the safety measures.

Students learn to recognized and manage equipment and its accessories designed to reduce water

consumption from offload technologies to taps and Eco-friendly mixers and discharge valves that use the

energy of moving water and high efficiency sanitary equipment. The Handyman program graduate will

be able to request the plumber apprentice license in order to work under the direct supervision of a

certified master plumber, helping and aiding in this profession and complying with Act No. 88 of 1939,

as amended.

ELED 1093 Ilumination 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: none)

This course is an introduction to the theory of lighting. Design of lighting systems for interior and exterior

spaces, common and public areas is included. The study of different lighting technologies such as the

following fixtures: incandescent, fluorescent, LED, High Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide, magnetic

induction, Mercury Vapor and internal components, among others. Review of the theory of DC and AC

single phase. Study and application of electronic lighting codes. The program graduate will be able to

request the expert electrician apprentice license in order to work under the direct supervision of a

certified expert electrician, helping and aiding in this profession and complying with Act No. 115 of June

2, 1976, as amended. HAND 1030 Pipping Installation and Welding 3 credits

(Pre-requisites: HAND 1020, SEGU 1042)

This course is design for teaching the concepts related to the interpretation and implementation of plans

to assemble and repair water pipes and different sanitary systems. The course also relates the student

with the various common welding techniques and their appropriate application according to the materials

used.

ELED 1094 Domestic Electrical Systems 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: ELED 1093) This course studies the symbols of electrical wiring, schematics and diagrams, circuit analysis, and

problem solving. Students are instructed with basic safety and operation regulations regarding electrical

equipment; they will be familiar with domestic electrical system design, open and closed installations,

electrical calculations and the application of the Puerto Rico Electrical Code. The Handyman program

graduate will be able to request the expert electrician apprentice license in order to work under the direct

supervision of a certified expert electrician, helping and aiding in this profession and complying with Act

No. 115 of June 2, 1976, as amended.

LAED 3000 Electrical Wiring- Lab 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: Concurrent with ELED 1094) This laboratory course studies the reading, interpretation, installation and testing of electrical wiring.

Included is the use of equipment and instruments used for measuring and testing. In addition, it studies

the use of piping and electrical system conductors. The Handyman program graduate will be able to

request the expert electrician apprentice license in order to work under the direct supervision of a

certified expert electrician, helping and aiding in this profession and complying with Act No. 115 of June

2, 1976, as amended.

HAND 1040 Metalworking and Drywall 3 credits

(Pre-requisites: HAND 1020, SEGU 1042) This course is designed to acquaint the student with the basic principles of metal work such as installation and repair of doors and windows frames, windows operators and other. Also through the course the student will learn to assemble and repair acoustic ceilings, "gypsum board" and drywall using correct joints techniques, glass mesh tape and other meshes for clean and proper finishing. HAND 1041 Masonry and Carpentry 3 credits

(Pre-requisites: HAND 1020, SEGU 1042) This course is designed to enable the student to apply the basic principles of carpentry, and masonry in construction repair works, replacing tiles, framing and other construction-related jobs such as changing doors, locks, decorative panels, moldings, cabinets, closet doors, and others. ELED 3010 Layout and Estimating 3 credits

(Pre-requisite: None) Course relating to basic principles of electrical estimating and value. It includes learning about different labor estimate formats, preparation of plans, materials, maintenance, installations, electrical repairs to residential buildings, price charts and suppliers directory. Students perform different practical exercises in preparation of quotations, proposals, and estimates. The Handyman program graduate will be able to request the expert electrician apprentice license in order to work under the direct supervision of a certified expert electrician, helping and aiding in this profession and complying with Act No. 115 of June 2, 1976, as amended.
