Adaptive Reuse Program Eligibility
To Be Eligible:
1. The building must have been constructed before 2000 and be located within Tempe city limits.
2. It must be located within 1,00 feet for the right of way of an arterial or collector street
3. The new use should result in a change of occupancy classification
4. The building cannot exceed 5,000 square feet, including the proposed additions
5. The Community Development Director has the authority to approve projects that meet the intent of the program but may not meet the exact criteria.
Adaptive Reuse Program Benefits
The program focuses on helping businesses open safely in a timely manner using a common sense approach. Some businesses may receive help in the form of: Review of parking requirements and shared
parking options Provisions for alternate landscape Provisions for alternate lighting Occupancy equivalency (B, M, F-1 and S-1) Combined review for landscape and site plans Onsite retention flexibility Use of unisex restrooms Exploration of other conditions to help
businesses succeed
