Sydney Australia. Sydney is located on the smallest country but the big-gest island Australia. If you like the ocean this place is for you. Sydney is a huge city in Australia; containing about twenty percent of the country’s population. As well as having a lot of population, they have a very di-verse population. It would be a great place for someone from Minnesota to visit because our coldest months

of the year are January and February and in Sydney they have summer from December to February, February normally being there warmest. One of the most famous places in Sydney would have to be the Sydney Harbor Bridge, which is the biggest long span bridge and tallest steel arch bridge in the world. It opened in 1932 and it gave the city the nick-name The Harbour City. If you want to look over the city and bride for a beautiful view then you would head to Pylon Lookout. One of the staples of Sydney is the Sydney opera house, which is gorgeous lit up, the opera house actually holds five theaters for a vari-ety of performances. “Smallest country, but the biggest Island” Dubai Dubai is located within the United Arab Emirates, Dubai isn’t somewhere that is very well known but it’s getting to become a lot more popular with people for many of reasons. Dubai is starting to attract a lot more tourists because of their malls, modern skyscrapers, even having the tallest in the world there. Tourists are a major part of the economy in Dubai considering that only about 20% of the population there are actually locals. Dubai is known right now as being one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Dubai is known for many big things, it has the world’s tallest man made structure, biggest hotel, biggest mall & also the world’s biggest aquarium. Dubai is getting to be known as one of the most luxurious places to travel in the whole world. One of the biggest attractions would have to be The Palm Islands; they are man-made islands that have hotels and such on them. A reason they are so famous is they made some of the islands in the shape of the whole world with all the countries in it.

Venice Italy. If you love water then this is somewhere that you want to be. The whole city was built on top of water hundreds of years ago and is still there. It was actually built around the year 400. You’re wondering how the town was built? It was built on top of an archipelago made up of around 120 different islands, but Venice wasn’t built just on top of the islands because they weren’t sturdy enough, so underneath the whole city there are millions of woodpiles to support the city. Getting around this city isn’t by car, it’s all by boat. It is beautiful. All over the city there are over 450 Gon-dolas and over 400 bridges throughout the whole city. Because of the fact that Venice is built on water they do deal with high water and flooding, normally due to tides around the months of November and December. Venice is home to St. Mark’s square, one of the most famous squares in the world, and also its home to St. Marks Basilica which is known for its opulent design and gilded interior mosaics with gold. Venice is said to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, and it definitely upholds its reputation.

Galapagos Islands The Galapagos island are located off the coast of South Amer-ica. The Galapagos is perfect for someone who loves wild-life. The Galapagos is home to many endangered and unique animals to their area. They are home to the Giant Tortoise, which can weigh up to 400kg.They have many animals that can only be found there. They are also home to a very rare species of sea lions, lizards and iguanas. They birds they have there are very rare and exotic, ranging from the flamingo to the blue and red footed booby. When it comes to the water surrounding the Galapagos there can also be a very incredible mix of sea life because of the three major currents surround-ing the area. If you are going to visit the Galapagos there isn’t really a set time of year to go, due to the fact that it is right on the equator it is nice all year round. When visiting the Galapa-gos you’ll have to be sure and check out the Alcedo Volcano, it’s the only volcano that visitors can climb, but it also has the largest population of tortoises in the Galapagos.

Anchorage Alaska The reason that Anchorage is one of the best places to travel is because of the nature and scenery there. In Alaska they have over 6,600 miles of coast line, and they also are home to the Tongass national forest, which is the biggest in the United States. If you like nature you’ll love it here. As far as wildlife goes they have the most bald eagles in the whole United States, you’ll see everything from black and brown bears to orca whales. When considering staying here you may want to think about how involved you want to be with the wildlife, so camp or get a hotel. Hotels can range from bed and breakfasts to some very high end hotels. If you’re someone who loves nature, then this is the place for you.

“Many animals that can’t be found anywhere else on earth.”

The 1920’s was the beginning of an eco-nomic prosperity called the roaring twen-ties after World War 1. F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays the spirits of the 1920’s, social class differences, and the decline of the American Dream. Fitzgerald published The Great Gatsby in 1925 about a young man, Nick Carraway, from Minnesota moving to New York. In his new rental house in the West Egg district he has a mysteri-ous neighbor named Jay Gatsby. As he gets to know Mr. Gatsby, Nick’s eyes are opened up to the truth of having a lav-ish life, secrets that have been kept, and affairs between people he cares for. This spring comes the movie, The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann who also directed Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet. In the movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway. The climax in the story has to be Tom confronting Gatsby about the relationship. Will the movie portray the

vengeance.” The stylist and set directors did a beautiful job showing the luxurious 1920’s. The stylist expressed the Buchan-an’s rich lifestyle by having them wear whites, yellows, and pastels. In the 1974 The Great Gatsby Robert Redford plays Gatsby. Roger Ebert objected, “he didn’t fit my notion of Gatsby: He was too sub-stantial, too assured, even too handsome.” I believe Robert Redford did a decent job of playing Jay Gatsby, but the look was perfect. When reading about a character you always imagine how they look like and I always thought Gatsby was an attractive man. Robert Redford could had showed

“Forget the old cheesy close-ups

and music”intense and sad confrontation between the two men as well as the book? Baz Luhrmann isn’t the only director who re-made F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gats-by. In 1974 Jack Clayton made his own take on the book. Forget the old cheesy close-ups and music in the movie, but how the actors and actresses portray the char-acters. In a film review Robert Ebert says, “The movie is “faithful” to the novel with

more emotions through Gatsby for Daisy. In the book Gatsby is in love with Daisy. He is drawn to her, almost as a caring ob-session. I didn’t see that though Robert. In the upcoming The Great Gatsby let’s hope Leonardo DiCaprio can show those emotions and be the Jay Gatsby F. Scott Fitzgerald portrayed as himself when he was younger. Not only am I excited to see the movie, I can’t wait to hear the soundtrack. There is controversy that since the story is based in the jazz era why isn’t there any jazz music in the film, but pres-ent day music. I think in doing this, it makes the movie unique and different from the first film. It shows it has its own characteristics and style. The soundtrack includes new songs and covers from artist like Beyonce and Andre 3000. Other art-ists included in the soundtrack are Flor-ence and the Machines, The xx, Gotye, and Lana Del Rey. Not many people know but Jay-Z is an executive producer for the soundtrack. Baz Luhrmann and Jay Z wanted to shower musical equivalents of

old times with contemporary music such as hip-hop and other musical genres. A soundtrack for a movie is important. It helps to shape the tone and mood of the film. It emphasizes the emotions. If it’s a horror film we have the rhythmic steady drum that is off pitch. Then there’s a sad love story with piano that is smooth yet dramatic. Slant Magazine wrote, “easily the most anticipated album of its kind in

years…extraordinary melding of vintage and contemporary sound.” For now all we can do is listen to the songs and see if we personally like it on our own terms. Until the movie comes out on May 10 and we get to see the end results on how the music

plays out with the film, we can’t really judge Jay-Z and Baz Luhrmann just yet. In the book F. Scott Fitzgerald presses the greatness and defaults of the roaring twenties and how it affected the people in its era. Will Baz Luhrmann portray the literary works of F. Scott Fitzgerald or go Hollywood and focus on the forbidden love affair?

Harrison Barnes does more than just play bas-ketball. While in school he started his own after school bible reading class. He now volunteers at youth programs to help little kids in aspects of their lives. He is the ninth Tar Heel to earn ACC Rookie of the Year honors (Sam Perkins, Mi-chael Jordan, J.R. Reid, Ed Cota, Joseph Forte, Marvin Williams, Tyler Hansbrough, Brandan Wright and Barnes) and the fourth to play for head coach Roy Williams • The 14th Tar Heel to earn Freshman All-America honors (USBWA and Fox Sports.com) • Second-team All-ACC selection, the first UNC freshman to accomplish that since Brandan Wright in 2007 • Earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors three times, in-cluding the last week of the regular season for his game-winning shot at Florida State and a team-high 18 points in a win over Duke to decide the regular season champion Earned first-team All-ACC Tournament honors (24.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg) • Most points by a UNC freshman in the ACC Tournament since Phil Ford had 78 in 1975 • The 11th UNC freshman to earn first-team All-ACC Tournament honors.

He transfered to Montrose christian School in Maryland his junior year, but then went back to Jefferson his senior year.He was not able to play basketball his senior year because of a transfer rule.Ross makes the jump to the NBA after playing two seasons for Washington, and it’s possible he may do so as a lottery pick. He finished his collegiate career with a flourish, as the leading scorer - with 16.4 points per game - on a Huskies team that won the Pac-12 reg-ular-season title. Although that wasn’t enough to get Washington into the NCAA tournament, Ross still saved some of his best basketball for the postseason, averaging 25.0 points in four NIT games during the Huskies’ run to Madison Square Garden. He also had an outstanding game in the NCAA tourney as a freshman in 2011, shooting 7 of 10 and scoring 19 points as Washington nearly upset No. 2 seed North Carolina. Ross has the ideal combination of size and athleticism for an NBA shooting guard, which should help him be an effective defender.

LeBron James: A 6’9 275lbs SF for the Miami Heat. LeBron James is a Finals Champion MVP winner, 3 time MVP award winner for the league and is work-ing on a fourth MVP award this year (2013). “He’s a bigger, stronger Michael Jordan.” Say Charles Bar-kley, a sports analyst for ESPN. This quote by Bark-ley shows just how great of a player LeBron James is, and how much of an im-pact he has on not just the NBA playoffs but the entire league.Kevin Durant: “I was the second-best player in high school. I was the second pick in the draft. I’ve been second in the MVP voting three times. I came in second

in the Finals. I’m tired of being second. I’m not going to settle for that. I’m done with it.” This is a quote from Kevin basically explaining his entire basketball career.

But don’t take that quote out of context and try to make it seem like Kevin is not a good player. The 6’10 for-ward is a NBA scoring cham-pion, and have proven his self to be one of the better players in the NBA league.Kobe Bryant: Unfortunately Kobe was not able to par-ticipate in the NBA playoffs 2013, because of a tore

Achilles. But Kobe played a huge role in getting the struggling Lakers back into the Playoff picture, and further more into the playoffs. From there The

Laker became a seven seed in the play-offs and had to face the Spurs (a 2 seed). They were swept 0-4 and did not win a game in the playoffs. Kobe is such an im-pact player because as to the point where, before the season, with the addition of Dwight Howard to the team, everyone placed The Laker in the finals. But with the absents of Kobe (who got them to the Playoff) the Lakers failed to win a single game against the Spurs.

The Growth of a GamerBy: Ethan Thao

has to kill monsters that are under-ground dwellers. The way he kills them is to either crush them with a rock or inflate them with your weapon. The types of monsters are Pooka that are like tomatoes but with goggles and the Fygar that are green fire breathing dragons. And the space guy will use a shovel to dig through the dirt. When I was 6 years old my brothers and I got Game boy colors. And we each got our own Pokémon games. This helped me get together with my brothers since we could trade Pokémon and we could fight with them to. It was awesome, we could catch creatures called Pokémon with Poké balls and train them by fighting other Pokémon to gain experience points (exp) and grow levels to get

stronger and be able to evolve. The main thing was to beat the eight gym leaders and when u receive all eight gym badges you will be able to chal-lenge the elite four which will let you get in the hall of fame. When I was around 7 we got

into playing a computer game called Warcraft 3. It was a computer game that used strategic skills and tactics to win. This game was created by Blizzard

My life as a gamer started when I went to an arcade and was exposed to Pac-Man when I was four years old and still new to the new gaming world that I live in today. My parents left on a trip and my uncle was left to watch over me and my two older brothers took me to the arcade. Pac-Man was a great game when I was young and new to the gaming world and it was a challenging and fun game for a four year old. Pac-Man is a game where you are a yellow ball and eat smaller yellow balls and try to dodge ghosts that try to hurt him and you win when you eat all the smaller balls. Also there is a means to hurt the ghosts by eating a ball that is bigger than the rest of the balls that you have to eat to win the game. Also there is a chance to get bonus points when you see a fruit in the center of the game screen. After the next year I was exposed yet again to another game which was called Dig-Dug. This was when I was five years old when I was introduced to the new apple computers. I would play this while waiting for my dad since he was a teacher at my school and he had to stay after to do work and stuff. Dig-Dug is about a space guy who

Page 19: Adapted Magazine Spring 2013

and the whole point of this game is to play the story line and to have fun at the same time. Also people have made all sorts of mini-games in this so when we want to play something new we just bring those games and play those. For my 9th birthday I got my own console and that was the Nintendo Game Cube. I got 3 con-trollers with it and a game called super smash bros. melee. The object of the game was either get the most points or kills than the rest. Also it was to un-lock other characters and play the story lines of each one. My brothers and I would always play together. This helped me actually be with my brothers since they were always busy doing other things while I stayed home alone. When I was more secluded from my broth-ers I got more into single player games like Final Fantasy X. this game consists of a story line of boy from the past going into the future and helping protect the future but in the end goes back to the past leaving his love behind. You have to fight your way through monsters and bosses to get to the next level. When I was in 8th grade my brother found an interesting game called League of Legends. This game is like DOTA (Defenders of the Ancients) but with different characters and storylines it’s a more competitive game and consists of 6 or 10 players

per game. At this time I was getting into my broth-er’s hobbies so I was always watching what he does on his laptop when I had spare time and saw him playing this let me have a stronger relationship with my brothers and that we communicated more since it was a team effort unlike the previous games we played throughout the course of our lives and we needed to cooperate with each other so that we could be successful and win. As of right now I’m in my sophomore year in high school and can’t really name a favorite game. I still play LOL (League of Legends)but I also play card games like Magic the Gathering and also got PS3 but it broke. The PS3 broke since my little brother left it on when he was supposed to turn it off. He wanted to start playing where he left off

before he left for school. Well anyways he did this through the course of 3 days. So on the 3rd day my little brother and I were playing Dynasty Warriors 6 all of a sudden the PS3 turns off and then we try to turn the PS3 back on but it doesn’t. So we go to the store to see what was wrong with it and they said that the cir-

cuit board got fried. Well this is my “Growth of a Gamer” story for those who have read this and that you guys would continue to read our magizine next time it comes out.

Every story must have an ending.

Minnesota has always been a great climate for those wanting a career in music. Our scene is quite varied, span-ning across all genres and styles. Over the history of Minnesotan music, we’ve seen Prince, Bob Dylan, The Replacements, The Suburbs, The Time, and many others. More recently in the past two decades, there has been an emergence of hip-hop artists who have become interna-tionally known, like Atmosphere, Brother Ali, and the collec-tive Doomtree. In the past year or so, there are multiple acts that represent a number of genres to come out of this state who deserve the same level of recognition as all of the afore-mentioned names.

Allan Kingdom is a Canadian-born rapper, producer, director, and songwriter. In the state of music today, it is quite rare to have one artist with the abil-ity to do all of these. His mu-sic cannot be classified as just hip-hop because it is more than that. His art is odd in the best sense of the word. There aren’t many super-interesting sounding rappers these days and Allan is a breath of fresh air. His first release is entitled “Heart Gang” and was put out in 2011. “Trucker Music” followed in 2012. Very shortly after (and

Strange Names is a Minne-apolis alternative/electronic/pop duo whose members are Liam Benzvi and Francis Jimenez. They began in 2010 and started to gain a following in the US as well as the UK in the following few years. Their most recent EP, which is self-titled, came out last autumn. Their website is strangenamesmusic.com. Another act that is starting to develop some buzz is the band Bomba de Luz, who combines elements of jazz, folk, and rock. They are based in St. Paul, MN. All members are high school students. They are Lydia Ho-glund, Evan Slack, Jonas Taghavi, and Gavin Taylor-Stark. Last fall, they did an in-studio per-formance of their song “Howl at That Moon” over at 89.3 The Current. The video of which has over 20,000 views. Since 2011, they’ve been putting out singles and EPs. The first full length release entitled “What a Heavy Weight” was released during the summer of 2012. The album, “Allan & Franklin’s Night Out on the Town,” has an ac-companying film. There has been a few of film screenings and performances in promotion of this project around the Twin Cities. You can check him out online for upcoming dates and info at allankingdomforever.com.

The Chalice is an R&B/hip-hop group made up of Claire de Lune, Sophia Eris, and Lizzo. Each member brings a different fla-vor to the dish that is the Chalice. Their EP “We Are the Chalice” features a handful of fun party jams. Included on the EP is the song that took off relatively swiftly, “Push It.” Throughout the song, you can hear odes to all of the female rappers that came be-fore them. Check them out on Bandcamp: thechalice.bandcamp.com. Poliça is a band that has become interna-tionally known in a relatively short amount of time. It consists of Channy Leaneagh, Chris Bierden, Drew Christopherson, and Ben Ivascu. They released their debut al-bum “Give You the Ghost” just last February and they have been touring extensively and globally. They mix alternative and indie rock with R&B, electronica, and a hint of reggae. They recently released a single with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver fame, “Tiff.” Their official website is thisispolica.com. John Mark Nelson is an indie-folk singer/song-writer and musician. His debut album “Still Here” was released in 2011. His second release, “Waiting and Waiting,” contains a number of songs that are frequently played on 89.3 The Current. His next album is be-ing funded by a successful Kickstarter cam-paign. You can stay updated by visiting his Bandcamp site: johnmarknelson.bandcamp.com. North House is a project created by Alex Tronson. He makes instrumentals that fuse electronic, ambient, and hip-hop together. He’s been releasing music for about a year now. Battle of the Phones

By: Chia Xiong

Page 25: Adapted Magazine Spring 2013

Having the most recent and the most high-tech phone is all the rage among adults and teens alike. However, which phone is the best pick for you, Sony Xperia Z, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, or Apple iPhone 5? Each phone has their own pros and cons of course, whether it’d be battery life, screen durability, or speed. One of the biggest ques-tion you should ask yourself when deciding on a phone is whether you use your device heavily, lightly, or moderately. If you are a light user looking for an Android phone, the Apple iPhone 5 would not be on your list. The best pick for a lightly used phone would be the Sony Xperia Z mainly because it lacks more on the software side. Its strong point will be the many camera options and its durability under water. If you were a heavy user, as in, one who likes to keep up to date with friends and families by constantly being on social networks, the best choice would be the Samsung Galaxy S4. It has

a 2600 mAh battery which results in at least 17 hours of talk time, or a full day’s substantial use of web browsing, gaming, email checking and more leaving enough reserves to satisfy a bit of video playback on the evening commute. It is also easier to find a replacement battery if the original battery were ever to go bad. Though the battery life may be pleasant, the con of this phone is its recharge time. The S4 requires several hours connected to the mains to get a decent charge. Now, if you were to want a phone where you can play games to kill time, the two best choices are the Apple iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Apple App Store is packed with a range of high quality games, offering more selection than the Google Play Store. Those who want a phone that looks nice and sleek, and made from high quality materi-als should definitely go for the Apple iPhone 5 or the HTC One. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S4, which is made up of plastic, the iPhone 5 is made up of an aluminum finished back and aluminum sides to improve grips and reduce

sliding. It is also added to create a matte look. The HTC One, on the other hand, is a mix between an iPhone 5 and Samsung S4. It has a mix of aluminum and white plastic. The alu-minum plates give the phone a cool, hard feel like the iPhone 5. Its rear is smoothly curved to hug your hand and its edges are beveled to remove any sharp bits.

Art is a mysterious concept that we can never truly define, partly because of our own opinions and perspective but also because of time it was created. There have been many eras with a lot of different styles of paint-ing or creating that was significant-ly popular at the time. With time comes change and with change come new ideas and new faces. There are millions of new artists discovered every year. Artists of all kinds; mu-sical, theatrical and then there are the artists who sculpt, paint and so much more. It’s a never ending list of people and things that are considered “art/artists.” A relatively recent artist discovered named Gaby Silva Bavio has brought many things to the “new art world” including cultural aspects. She was born in La Plata, in Argentina and now has a home in Chicago now as well. She says that her surroundings are what help

inspire her work and there is a huge contrast from La Plata to Chicago so she’s able to have a variety of perspectives. In Argentina there are a lot more nature type sceneries but there

are also some pretty big and fancy cities spreading across the country. Both places are undeniably beau-tiful in their own unique ways just like Bavio’s pieces of art. In Bavio’s art, her main goal is to reveal what inspires her consisting of life expe-riences and also the deeper emo-tions that she feels. She also does an amazing job at showing emotion

through color and texture in the paintings. In order to achieve the effect of differ-ent textures, Bavio uses different materials .You may look at a piece of art and think to yourself, “this description makes no sense, that’s not how I see it at all!” Don’t worry, because art is sup-posed to make you think; whether you hate it or love it, you’re still thinking within yourself

to pull out some reasoning for your thoughts. Bavio and other critics liked the vibrant colors of her work to resemble love and or anger de-pending on which way the texture is flowing. One of Bavio’s favorite parts to being an artist is to experiment with different materials and techniques such as lighting, shapes and what the canvas or paper is made out of. She uses organic materials like sand or soil and also non-organic materials like newspaper. Mixing it up and using oils, acrylics, watercolors and ink pigments is also something that she enjoys. Being as experimental as she is, she should be able to adapt with time and still remain a fresh and current artist. Critics would consider Bavio’s art to be in the Contemporary or Modern Art genre but she is not even confident with what kind of art-ist she is or wants to be, “I am basically an ex-perimental artist. My studio is like a lab where I mix and try several media and surfaces to obtain the desired effect.” Gaby Silva Bavio could be a role model for anyone, even you! She doesn’t allow others to define who she is and she doesn’t ever give up until the job is well done.

The game following the big hit from the 90s, Starcraft, Starcraft 2 is a real-time strategy game in which you build up a mas-sive army and are put up against other people to fight it out and see who is the best fighter. Starcraft 2 was re-leased in 2010 with a ma-jor following right off the...

bat from the previous title and also because of other real-time strategies such as Warcraft 3. Also, because of the game’s re-lease timing and game type, it was a huge game in the competi-tive scene. People from across the world played Starcraft 2 against other people in their country and their own. Blizzard Software inc. has improved a lot of stuff since the last game that came out in this series (Starcraft: Broodwar) by improving not only the visu-als, but also the minor, yet very

prevelant changes in gameplay, like allowing more than 10 units to be selected at a time or other changes that might be

overlooked by some people, but really do improve the playability that much more. The story of Starcraft 2 begins

where “Starcraft: Broodwar” left off: Kerrigan is very pow-erful and is taking control of much of the Starcraft 2 uni-verse. Next page describes the expansions of Starcraft 2 in detail.

You are Sarah Kerrigan (previously the Queen of Blades), the Terran who has the ability to control groups of Zerg. You are now working with Raynor’s Raid-ers to take down the

army of Terrans led by Arcturus Mengsk, who used to fight along side of Jim

Raynor and Sarah Kerri-gan back in the day un-til he lost his sanity and decided to hunt down Raynor and Kerrigan to obtain more power.

You are Jim Raynor, the leader of a rebel group called Raynor’s Raiders that fights against the traitor Terran group called the Confederacy, the Zerg group led by the Queen of the Swarm, and the Protoss.

After being betrayed so many times by Mengsk, he wants to make sure that his tyranny is over for good and builds up an army to fight him off and also deal with his lost love, Kerrigan (Queen of Blades) as well, as she is begin-ning to be a very large threat to him and the universe.

You are Zeratul, a mem-ber of the Nerazim (or Dark Templar), and also one of the last remain-ing members of a dy-ing race known as the Templar.

The Protoss are not only dying from being picked off one-by-one in the Great War, but, even before all of that, they were dying of old age. The Protoss are truely a very old race.

Zeratul makes it his obligation to seek out the lost factions of the protoss to fight off the incoming war that very well could end his race forever.

If you’re afraid that you’re not going to get into college, there are many different op-tions to help you get in. With the first option being playing a sport. There are many dif-ferent types of high school sports you can play that colleges will take you for. Another option would be that if a college looked at your transcript and saw you do a lot of volunteering and activities for the school, there’s a good chance that they will take you because they like kids who are in-volved in activities for their school. Some things that impact high school students about where they want to go is the size, one huge very impor-tant thing too also is how much it’s going to cost, the name of the school, how many of your friends are going to go there, one of the most important factors is if you’re going to be able to adapt well to the college, and one really important thing is to get good grades and do well on your ACT. If you want to go

out of the state you live in, you have to take a test which is called an SAT.One major impact that high school students have is where there friends are going. I’ve been good friends with Jhalil sense 9th grade. He’s going to a college in Atlanta while I’m

going in Mankato. But some other kids want to go where there best friend is going. For a program there going to study they want to do the same thing as what their friend is doing, which is the wrong thing to do. You should pick something that’s interesting to you and what you

want to study not what your friend is study-ing. Another impact that affects the parents more than kids is the cost. For example Florida is where I’ve always wanted to go but there’s no chance I would go there because it costs too much money. College is expensive but if you do well in class and get good grades you can

knock off some money to get a scholarship and save your parents hundreds to thousands. One thing high school students don’t know is that there grades really do matter. Students go into high school and get there work done freshman year but then as the year progresses throughout each year you start to become la-zier and that happens to many students. Col-leges go and look at your grades throughout high school to see if you’re taking challeng-ing classes. Senior year is the year they look at the most because usually kids decided to take gym classes and woods. Well colleges don’t like that they want you to have a challenge your senior year and take a math class or sci-ence, even though it’s required. Don’t think senior year is the year to goof around because really, it’s your most important.

I think I really ben-efited from

going to col-lege.
