description

Study on the intensive culture of black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) was carried in 6 earthen ponds at Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Wild postlarvae were reared in nursery ponds up to juvenile stage and then the juveniles were stocked in the grow out ponds at a rate of 22, 22, 24, 21, 25and 31 individual/m2 in GP1, GP2, GP3, GP4, GP5 and GP6 respectively. Grow out trial was conducted for 119 days. During the culture period shrimps were fed only with a commercially formulated feed and good water conditions were maintained. Variations in physic-chemical parameters were more or less similar for all the ponds.
