    Content Standards

    NETS-T1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity

    Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate

    experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual

    environmentsa. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.

    Understandings:

    That web 2.0 applications can/will enhance the learning of students. Web 2.0 applications increase interest levels of students. Teachers will be able to use the following web 2.0 applications:

    a.Vokib. Prezi

    On their own, teachers will be able to create their own web page for theirclassroom or personal use, using instructions from a screencast.

    Essential Questions:

    How can web 2.0 applications be used to enhance student learning?

    Are some web 2.0 applications more effective than others in enhancing studentlearning?

    Stage 2 Assessment Evidence

    Performance Task(s):

    Teachers will complete an assessment, created on Google Drive, based on whatthey have learned in the staff development session.

    Other Evidence:

    Teachers will successfully and independently create a short presentation using one of two web2.0 applications to explaining how each can be used for instructional purposes.

    During the staff development session, teachers will orally answer questions aboutthe particular application being presented at the time.

    Resources Needed: All teachers will be equipped with their school-board issued Mac-book Airs.

    Presenter will use an ASUS laptop computer. Overhead projector attached to the presenters computer.

    Stage 3: Learning Experiences The staff development session will open with the introduction of the presenter. The presenter will handout the staff development agenda.

    Following the introduction, a short Voki will be shown introducing the first lessonon developing a web page. (how to create a Voki will be covered today as well) Following the Voki presentation, the screencast How to develop a web page will

    be shown to the group. (This is being done because the web host Weebly isblocked by the school systems web filter. Due to this block, the teachers willhave to practice creating a web page while logged onto an alternate internetsource.

    The presenter will direct the teachers to move to the URLwww.voki.com

    The presenter will then demonstrate how to create a Voki account. Each teacherwill then set up their own account. The presenter will demonstrate to theteachers how to create a Voki. Teachers will be given time to experiment with

    the application before moving on to the next. The presenter will direct the teachers to move to the URLwww.prezi.com Presenter will demonstrate how to create a Prezi and allow the teachers time to

    experiment with the application.

    The presenter will take any questions on the two web 2.0 applications that werepresented.

    Teachers will be asked to show a short presentation which they will create usingeither Voki or Prezi explaining how their choice can be used for instructionalpurposes.

    Teachers will be given a URL to a webpage containing screencasts on how to:a. Create a webpageb. Create a Vokic. Create a Prezid. Create a Voicethread

    Additionally, the URL will contain web links to other links containing Curation sitesand other useful Web 2.0 Tools.
