TRADE NAMES, AERONAUTICAL AND MILITARY SPECIFICATIONS, ANDPRODUCERS OF STAINLESS STEELS, ALLOY STEELS, AND SUPERALLOYS
INTRODUCTION
This memorandum is a revision of DMIC Memorandum 42, dated January 25,1960. An effort has been made to bring the material up to date as of the endof 1960.
These tabulations were prepared to assist the Defense Metals Informa-tion Center at Battelle Memorial Institute in classifying information onmetals and alloys for aircraft and missiles. Four tabulations are included:
3 TABLE 1. TRADE DESIGNATIONS
This table is a numerical and alphabetical listing of metals andalloys by trade designations and is the major table in this compi-lation. Where information was available during compilation, chemi-cal compositions and references to other designations are included.Efforts will be made in the future to complete the tabulations andinclude information on new alloys as they are developed.
3 TABLE 2. AERONAUTICAL MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS (AMS)
An effort was made to include AISI, SAE, and trade designations inthis tabulation of Aeronautical Material Specifications. Tomade to the trade designations in Table 1. In a few instances,
information was not available on trade designations for AMSdesignations. Until this information becomes available and is in-cluded in the tabulation, reference should be made to the originalAeronautical Material Specification.
TABLE 3. HOT-WORK TOOL STEELS
AISI designations are given in Table 3 for the hot-work tool steels(Symbol H). Chemical compositions corresponding to the AISI desig-nations may be found by reference to the trade designations inTable 1.
STABLE 4. SELECTED HIGH-STRENGTH AND HEAT- AND CORROSION-RESISTANT ALLOYS
Selected high-strength and heat- and corrosion-resistant alloys arelisted in this table by AISI designation. Chemical compositionscorresponding to the AISI designations are given in the numericallisting of Table 1.

Compilation of these tabulations will be continued so that additions 3and corrections can be made at convenient intervals. Suggestions for improve-ment of the compilation will be most welcome. 3
