Background Activity

This activity is the result of One Day Course Program held by SEG Universitas

Padjadjaran Student Chapter. With a speaker by Mr. Ngurah Beni Setiawan, a

Geomechanics – PetroTechnical Services from Schlumberger. The title of the course is“Introduction to Geomechanics and Its Application for Geophysics”.

Objective

1. Facilitating a Geomechanics course for geophysics student, especially geophysics

student in Universitas Padjadjaran.

2. Participant can understand what is geomechanics and what is it for in related with

geophysics.

Activity

This activity was held in :

- Place : Auditorium of Physics Department, Universitas Padjadjaran

- Day, Time : Saturday, 9 AM till 3 PM

The Last Meeting

Summary

On September, 28 2013, SEG Universitas Padjadjaran Student Chapter held One

Day Course with the title is Introduction to Geomechanics and Its Application for

Geophysics. The course was presented by Mr. Ngurah Beni Setiawan, a Geomechanics –

PetroTechnical Services from Schlumberger.

The course was attanded by 18 SEG Members and 8 Non SEG Members. Like other

courses had ever held by SEG Unpad SC, It was held for 6 hours. It was opened by MC,

Miss Shadrina (Geophysics’10). Then, it was continued of opening speech by Vice

President of SEG Unpad SC, Miss Indra Luthfiana and Secretary of Study Program of

Geophysics Unpad, Mr. Bambang Widjatmoko. After opening, the speaker started his

presentation until the break. The presentation was started from the question “ what is

geomechanics and what is it for”.

The course was divided by 2 sessions. At the first, the course was seen like it was

a profesional course. It’s seen with many questions or statements were given by



profesionals only. But, in process of time some of students also gave their questions to

the speaker. It means that the course was interesting.

After the first session was a break for 1 hour. The second session was started at

01.00 PM. And in 20 minutes last, it was time of sharing about experience to joinSchlumberger by Miss Tenny Octaviani (Geophysics’08).

And the course was ended by giving memento from vice president of SEG Unpad

SC to speaker, and then took some pictures together.



Closing

Thus I wrote this report. Hopefully with holding this course can give a lot of

benefits to all of us, especially for the committee, and motivate us to continue improve

our knowledge about geomechanics. And I also hope other courses like this can be heldin the future by SEG Unpad SC with the preparation and the results are better than this.
