Exploring the Jurassic coast

BLUE SKIES, BLUE SEA

Pupils in Year 11 ventured off to the beautiful Jurassic

coast in Dorset last week as part of their GCSE

studies.

Taking in some of the finest scenery Great Britain has

to offer, including places like West Bay, Durdle Door,

Lyme Regis and Lulworth Cove, the field trip is a firm

favourite with pupils who enjoy learning in the great

outdoors. Focusing on coastal management and its

impact on the environment, pupils were able to

discover and learn in the outdoor classroom.

As you can see from the photographs, the weather was

certainly kind to them!

Looking forward to the next one already!

This event is to raise money for the Unit to ensure that

anyone receiving treatment, along with their families, will

be in a comfortable and welcoming environment to give

them the best possible surroundings whilst fighting this

devastating condition. The event is on Saturday 2nd

November, at Rougemont School starting at 7pm. There

will be a three course dinner, bar and live music provided

by the fantastic Velvet Soul, Big Show Band. We will also

be raffling some great prizes during the evening. Tickets

are £45pp or £42.50 if booking a table of 8. Please contact

[email protected] .

SENIOR SUBJECT SPOTLIGHT

Business is a very popular subject at Rougemont with

two Year 10 classes embracing the course at GCSE

level.

Head of department, Miss Owen is passionate about

teaching young people the benefits of good business

practice. She inspires the pupils to recognise the

opportunities available to today’s younger generation to

make a difference through business and enterprise.

Year 10 pupils have just started their Business GCSE

course and are currently learning about the core

principles of business planning. Miss Owen also leads

Rougemont’s very first BTEC course in Business,
