What is sexting?
What is wrong with sexting?
Can you ever trust someone enough to send them an intimate photo?
What could happen if you do this? What advice would you give
to someone who was asked to do this?
The Law: Possessing images
Having sexting photos or videos on your phone or computer
Someone under the age of 18 is legally a child. If you have
sexual photos or videos of somebody who is under 18
you are in possession of an indecent image of a child.
This is against the law. It means you could get into trouble with the police.
The Law: Sending Images
Sending photos or videos if you are under 18 If you send sexual photos or videos to friends, you are breaking the law.
You are still breaking the law if the photos are of yourself
(“selfies”).
The Law - Receiving Images
If you have sexual photos or videos of anyone under 18
you are committing a crime.
You can be put on the sex offenders register and go to prison.
This can also happen if you have kept or printed a photo sent to you by a friend
What can happen?
If you have or send sexual photos or videos the Police may not charge you with a crime if you are a teenager.
The Police might record this.
You will have a criminal record.
You cannot go to America with a criminal record

Tweeting Abuse
Was their sentence fair?
What harm can abusive tweets or posts cause?
How do you think people would feel if they receive nasty messages like
this?Do you know what to do if you receive any abuse in this way?
What to do
Do not reply to messages that are meant to harass or upset you.
This can encourage the bully.
Keep the message.
You do not have to read it but keep it as evidence.
This is important when you want to report it.
Report problems to someone you trust or the police.
Block the sender.
You do not have to put up with someone harassing you.
Tell someone you trust
Talking to your friends or someone you trust is usually the first step in dealing with any issue.
Respect yourself.
Respect other people.
Being online is very public even though it does not seem like
this.
