•SHI constructed an offshore platform ordered by SEIC, Russia •All the measuring instruments attached to the platform required

traceability to NMS of Russia

•Additional cost for recalibration in Russia ;•Possible penalty due to delay of delivery : 16 million US dollars

•KRISS and VNIMS are signatories to the CIPM MRA•KRISS and VNIIMS concluded a protocol recognizing the equivalency

of NMS in both countries •SEIC approved all of the KRISS-traceable SHI measuring instruments

as traceable to VNIIMS

•US FAA required KA to secure calibration certificates traceable toNIST according the US Repair Station Act

•Suspending services for 3 months during calibration at NIST; •Additional cost to substitute instruments and to establish a new system

with traceability to NIST: 9 million US dollars

•KRISS and NIST are signatories to the CIPM MRA•The FAA accepted all KRISS-traceable KA measuring instruments as

traceable to NIST
