October 2007“Ecotechnology in practice: a workshop for community land holders in the southern outskirts of Mexico City”

Course objectives:The purpose was to exhibit a range of clean technologies to help people iden-tify the systems that best suit their needs. Training covered the use of solar cells, dry latrines, solar heating systems, improved fuel efficient stoves and biogas digestor technology (air tubs).

Target audience: A group of 15 men and women

Course objectives: To help members of the ‘ejido’ (or co-oper-ative) identify sustainable business activities for the short and medium term, focusing on providing participants with the skills to assess and plan potential community-based tourist activities while considering the social, political, cultural and environmental contexts.

Course objectives: To develop the participants’ ability to plan tourist activities focusing on organizational approaches, involving the local community as well as conserving cultural and environ-mental resources.

Course objectives: Encouraging the sustainable use of local resources through the identification of alternative and sus-tainable methods of production; assessing the feasibility of tourist activities; proposing and struc-turing specific training programs for them to develop the identified feasible activities.

Target audience:Students from the Technological University of San Juan del Rio and community land holders.

Course objectives: To identify potential alternative and sus-tainable productive activities and to explore the feasibility of introducing tourist activities.

Target audience: The creation of 30 jobs as a direct result of the assessment (subject to funding) with around 50 further positions for locals in sup-porting roles.

July 2008“Sustainable income generation & job creation: Assessment, participatory evaluation and training for the Nahua indigenous community of Hueyapan, Mucipality of Tetela del Volcán, Morelos”

Course objectives:The course covered the sustainable use of local resources for income generation and job cre-ation; it also included a workshop on the herit-age and culture of the Hueyapan people.

Target audience:A group of 15 people.
