In my opinion, classroom management is dealing with how I am going to

handle my pupils discipline when I am teaching.

Through the previous three weeks of interaction, I realised that it is essential

for teachers to be humorous and flexible. This is because the lessons conducted by

humorous and flexible teachers would always be fun and enjoyable. Thus, by

possessing these personalities, I think, handling classroom discipline would not be a

    painful experience.

I have done some flashback to recall the techniques used by my primary

school teachers to control the class and some mischievous moments of mine. Only

then, I realised I was so active when I was a kid. So, I if were to teach in a class with

a mixture of active and passive pupils, this must be a great challenge to me. This is

because both types of pupils need to be dealt with at the same time but with different

    methods.

In this case, my main philosophy of classroom management would be: if I

show the pupils how I would like them to behave, then I will get the desired

behaviours from the pupils. This philosophy is closely related to the classical

conditioning in the behaviourist idea which says that response is greatly influencedby the stimulus. Therefore, if I wanted my pupils to be punctual (the response), I

myself must show good example by being punctual in advanced (the stimulus). In

other words, I will be the role model for my pupils.

Hence, my philosophy of classroom management could be equated to the

system of photocopy machines. In this context, my pupils are the photocopy

machines. They will photocopy the way I carry myself. So, if I portrayed good

images by dressing decently to the class, then the pupils are very likely to dress

smartly to the school as well. However, there are times when the photocopy

machines would be jammed. This is the time whereby question like Why are

teachers allowed to smoke, yet I cant? comes in.

In brief, I, as a teacher in future, must remind myself from time to time to

portray good images anywhere and anytime, so that the pupils would only have the

chance to photocopy my good qualities.
