THE ACROPOLIS CASE

The stolen statuette

It is October 2007. It is a warm, sunny day ,

Two archeologists and three workmen

are on the Acropolis of Athens and they are too busy !

They are transferring

sculptures of the Parthenon to the

new Acropolis museum . .

Three huge wooden packages will be

transferred the following day .

They are full of statuettes

and valuable pieces of marble from the

frieze and the metopes of the Parthenon.

Although it rains heavily during the

night , the guards are

patrolling the hill of Acropolis

and keeping an eye

on the packages .

The next morning an archaelogist notices that

one of the packages has been forced

and statuette No 313 is missing !

The policemen find

in the muddy ground and follow them .

Where do the footsteps lead them ?

•To the suspect’s hide out

•To the car park at the foot of the Acropolis hill

•To the nearby cafeteria

We forgot to tell you !!!As the policemen are following the

footsteps they find some

They think the keys must belong to the thief .

How can the car keys help the police investigation ?The policemen will…

•activate the car alarm and spot the car .

•unlock the car and look for the thief’s details

• check the registration number and find the car owner.

They can try all these !But …

this is what really happens !

They find out that the number plates

belong to a stolen car .

The owner of the car reported

the car theft 2 months ago !

What can the police do ?

• Interrogate the owner of the car

•Wait for the thief to appear at the car park

• Try to find more fingerprints on the

wooden box

The police keep watching for the thief

at the car park . 3 days later

a suspicious looking man appears !

He is wearing a black coat ,

boots ,A a black hat and dark

glasses. .

He walks around the car park , approaches the car and

looks inside .

Then he walks towards some bushes

at the edge of the park.

What happens next ?

•He sits down to have some rest .

•He takes something from behind the bush

•He opens a map

• and tries to find his way

The suspect looks for something

behind the bushes.

He picks up a heavy object , hides it under his coat

and walks towards the car.

He unlocks the car boot and puts the object inside .

Then …he unlocks the driver’s

door and when he is about

to start the engine…

Two policemen in plain clothes

appear out of the blue !

They pull him out of the car , pull his glasses and …
